Mayor Blangiardi The Hypocrite
« on: September 17, 2021, 08:53:11 AM »
Saw videos of what was reported as Blangiardi leaving a party for his birthday recently that was attended by 10+ people in an indoor venue.  But that's not all, he was lipping off at folks leaving the venue.  Wonder how come that's not making the local news?  Hmm

Now folks are posting more of his rants on SM.  Wonder how that will progress. . .

None of the political leaders lead by example anymore.

I sincerely hope that video of Rick's birthday bash not only goes viral here in Hawaii but through out the nation.

What this hypocrite did was to further polarize distrust in what the government does and says.  Even our idiot POTUS mentioned losing patience with people refusing to take the vaccine.  Maybe now the dumbass will see why.  His own people talk the talk but don't walk the walk.

Everyday this covid crap is becoming more and more difficult to swallow as a genuine bonafide health threat that is as dangerous as these political weasels make it out to be.

Health threat?  Yes.  It is.

As dangerous as the gov't makes it out to be?  LOL!

Too much smoke and mirrors.

I can somewhat understand and even expect the smoke and mirrors thing. It’s his rants that seem to be escalating that gets me. Not even putting up a front. In the video I saw, what appeared to be his security was even “eh, let’s go… sir”

Rick was never a politician. He IS a tough business man. As such, he tried hard to reopen businesses as fast as possible and to keep them open.
Rick is also a friend of mine as I've known him for over 20 years. He never screwed anybody that didn't deserve it.

When he decided to run for mayor I went to see him and warned him to watch his back because politics is a dirty business.
I told him that people will take every opportunity to smear him. It's easy and anonymous to do with the internet.
I have first hand knowledge of this as I used to work for a great former congressman who was the target of a vicious smear campaign.

So think about what you see and hear nowadays. Ask yourself some basic questions of news reporters....who, what, when, where and why.
Especially the "why" question.
Is it proof of a crime?  or a post to draw clicks, or create a buzz, or to attract attention, or reap a monetary benefit?

This is all I'm going to say about this topic.
A lot of you people reading this know who I am so this is not coming from some anonymous internet avatar.

What I don't agree with was that 1 girl was claiming his son assaulted her. After seeing the vid, she's looking for an excuse.  Didn't look like an assault to me.

OF - I get your point and I know you personally.  That said, my point wasn't about him being a politician vs a businessman.  I get that he's a tough businessman, he's your friend, and that you have a high opinion of him.  While I will say there's always multiple sides to people, my point here is that he is in a position of authority and his actions appear to be escalating.  Yeah, I get smear campaigns and such, but it's not just that recent video.

Personally, I don't know him.  Though I have many good friends who have been on the other side of the coin.  Didn't deserve it?  Meh. . . I'll just leave that at that as well.

I didn't say anything about proof of crime or anything to that.  I am sharing my observation on that these instances are NOT making it on HNN, KHON, etc.  Maybe that's more for media bias topic, but still.

If you watch the video he was trying to explain that the restaurant was at less than 50 percent capacity and they were……….
I’m thinking he was gonna say following the rules.
Was he and his party ? Probably not.

Be careful of editing though. Goes for a lot of the videos posted on this forum.
Surprised he stopped to talk.

I didn't watch the video posted above.  What was reported was greater than "rules allowed".  Personally, I couldn't care less about that.  It's his actions and reactions when confronted.  Do people, or even media push buttons?  Sure.  That said, I do get the editing, narrative, etc aspect.  Even smear campaign.  Frankly, I would have posted this if any other individual in a position of power acting that way.

To be fair, his reactions are because he was not groomed to be a politician.  So I give him a break when he snaps at people.  In fact I respect the balls he has when he does it. Vs. Kirk who sounds like he's whining when speaking.

His confrontational manners doesn't concern me quite as much as what seems to be a disregard for the very rules he implemented.

You must lead by example.  I know it's harder when you are in the limelight or a public figure but still, if you are going to push an agenda you must lead by example.

What was he thinking before attending the event?  F**k it, I'm the mayor?

I can see your point.  To me, the groomed as a politician is worse.  Like Tulsi.  Frankly, snap at people all one wants.  When it happens, even factoring the why, is telling about people.  At least to me.

1) Exactly.  To be clear, I'm not saying I am better than him, or anyone.

2) I mean there could be any number of reasons.  At least he didn't down play it, going public and saying it was a downscaled event and then proceed with a rager. . .

Like Augie I had some hope. All that is gone. Back to our regulary scheduled, run-of-the-mill Democratic programming. I wonder if somewhere along the line, he got Al Sharpton shook down like Augie did with his black face skit.

This is the problem of deciding that leadership is acting like Biden and his 'I am out of patience' approach. You wanna make rules that are almost impossible to live by even for yourself of course people are going to get in your grill.

Real leadership would be statements of guidance and health warnings while spending every other waking moment back stopping the medical profession and getting them any and all available resources they need to stay on top of things.

Crisis is supposed to be a time to bring folks together to instead of pushing them apart and breaking their stuff.

I don't care if they think they are doing it for 'the right reasons' they have been going about it the wrong way the whole time.

No one respects people who come off as a Bully. Even if it's 'for your own good'.

Hi OF
I have known you for many years and you are a righteous and stand up man.
I also feel that the mayor is probably the best mayor we have had in many years.
The optics of the video are bad. This is a kin to Gavin Newsome's French Laundry
video. This will open the door for some joker to cause all sorts of trouble for us.

Ideal leadership in my opinion would've assured the People that the govt has this under control and there is no need to worry or fear - a secure place to work and play.
Instead we have a govt that is continuing to push fear and worry in all aspects of governance. I understand that Mayors are under control of Gov Ige in regards to their plans. We need a Mayor to stand up to him.  Businesses are suffering and got the short end of this stick.
