What are some movies are so stupid, you have to laugh?

One of my favorites is Army of Darkness. It’s on HBO as I type this. I would say a guilty pleasure, but that move has some classic lines and cracks me up. 

You mean "Spaceballs" or "Dumb & Dumber" kind of stupid?  (Actually funny)

Or more like "Napoleon Dynamite?"  (Not really that funny -- just stupid)

There were so many movies that I considered stupid but because they make me laugh it's entertaining and that's why I watch movies.

Sometimes it's fun to watch the really bad B-type movies with limited budgets and forgettable actors.  The special effects itself are laughable but it's the really bad acting and story plots that make it really hilarious.

I'm a Godzilla fan so any Godzilla movie made in the 60's and early 70's are stupid and makes me laugh.

Hell, the recent Godzilla movies don't make me laugh as much but they are at times stupid.....

Those are two that come to mind.  Spaceballs, I still enjoy the stupid humor.  D&D for some reason I still find funny, but not as funny as I recall thinking it was when it first came out.

I tried watching it because it's a classic that everyone talks about. Couldn't get past the first 20 mins. It just wasn't for me.

You couldn't understand the accents?   

CMO, you have to build up to Monty Python by watching Mr Bean or the Benny Hill Show first. (BH not British but at the same level).

We just watched Mr. Bean in the past few years, after seeing Rat Race.  Now I understand who he was at the London Olympics performance.  Benny Hill is good too.

Guess I'll try again and watch Monty Python.  I didn't make it past the scene where the knight is getting his limbs chopped off.

The whole thing of Monty Python is they are so stupid, you have to laugh. 

I think if you were born after 1970, the British humor of TV and movies featuring comedy of Monty Python and others just won't strike your funny bone.

There's been a running joke forever that the British don't "get" American humor, and vice versa.

The stupid graphics is a good example.  They spend a lot of time on the drawing with elaborate and ornate backgrounds and detail (almost looks like Michelangelo level artistry) and then they animate it by just moving the mouth and eyes!  It's like a kid with a new camera is playing with stop action photography!

The Holy Hand Grenade, a cow in a catapult, a knight with no horse being followed by his squire clapping 2 coconut halves together making a galloping sound effect.  Or the scene where they try to logically determine if a woman was a witch. 

It's supposed to be stupid.  Whether you find it funny or not is a different matter.  Sometimes it does take several times watching with people who appreciated it before you see the humor in it.

The Gods Must Be Crazy (I think 1 and 2)

I recall them being super funny when I was younger.  Still funny, but not quite a much so when older.

Blazing Saddles is another in that same category.

You have to imagine these movies as skits.  The Monty Python troupe made their name touring and doing their comedy on stage.  The movies are basically collections of skits, often having nothing to do with any overall plot or story line.

What does the Black Knight have to do with the story of the Holy Grail?  Not much.  Just another skit that happened on the way to create Camelot.
