A day or so ago, Colion did a video on Defunding Gun Control.



Do not defund the police, defund gun control. Next time a perp tries to break into your house, warn him that you're calling 911 to protect the thief, because you will defend yourself, without hesitation, if you are threatened with serious bodily harm.

This is actually why I agree about defunding the police.  The police is like a self licking ice cream cone.  The police are there to protect the people, hence no reason to allow citizens to own guns, creating an environment for criminals to prey on the people, needing more police to protect the people.  Police argument will always be "What will you do if there is no police?" or "What will you do if you defund the police?"  My answer:  The 2 Amendment.  We don't need police to protect us, they just need to come afterwards to clean up the mess.

Police aren't on the spot when someone needs protecting.  If they are, it's only by happenstance.  (I think that might be the first time I ever used that in a sentence outside of English class!   ).

We are our own 1st responders.  When we need help, we are always first on the scene.  As they say, the police will be there to write up the reports and draw the white outline around your body.  If you're prepared, hopefully it's the attacker's/invader's body that gets outlined.

We need police to enforce the law and investigate complaints.  Protection?  The Supreme Court ruled that the police have NO duty to protect any individual citizen, even if they say they will.  They have a duty to protect the public's safety at large.  i.e.  Someone coming into your home?  They can't be sued for being too late.  A rabid dog or crazed druggie with a gun in the middle of Kalakaua Ave?  They have a duty to stop that problem to keep us all safe collectively.

A restraining order is just a piece of paper -- one that's meaningless if the Cops don't give a crap.

His testimony included that he learned very quickly while a rookie that he is there after the fact for majority of his call responses.  Basically a glorified note taker.  And that once he retired, he had to turn in his gun, badge, and radio. So now he's unprotected like the rest of us regular folk.

So now he's unprotected like the rest of us regular folk.

Are you sure?  I read that retired Hawaii LEO can get a CC unlike the regular folk.

His testimony sounded like he didn't get issued one.  But I'm not 100% sure.  I know mainland retired LEO who moved to HI have them per the LEOSA.
