Going to give the new changes to firearms registration a go, likely this week.  The "just take the firearm info and form" and utilize the after 400 pm hours once week.  You know both test case and show demand for the after hours window.

If it's super easy, which it sounds like it is, it may entice me to acquire more long guns.  I have my eye on a 9 mm AR that I already have mags for.  Been long looking for a .357 Mag lever action.  Was browsing for level action over the weekend.  There are some available, but they seem to be on the pricier end of the spectrum.   :(

Did give the new "system" a run last week.  Took the firearm info and form to the window.  The officer asked, "no gun?" I said yep, no gun..     They annotated "not inspected" on my form and said nothing else.   Pretty easy.  Hope they do the online thing soon, as instructed by the courts.

Not sure why they annotated "not inspected"?   I'm thinking they did that so they can retrace you after the inevitable "fix" lawmakers will administer next legislative session..

Don't trust this "not inspected" annotation. Lawmakers in HI don't care about the Constitution. I'm speculating that this is just a backdoor for them to further erode any rights.

Hmm. Sounds like (or similar) to the disclaimer when registering a stripped or compete AR lower.

Will see how my experience with the new “system” goes this week. Will likely go after work, so no rifle to inspect for me.

Yeah, if it's no longer necessary to bring the actual gun to HPD to register it, and if it's not even legal to ask a purchaser to bring the gun, why does this "not inspected" even need to be noted? Are "not inspected" registrations actually conditional registrations?

I supposed any "not inspected" registrations may go into a pile separate from inspected registrations for further checks to confirm the serial number and buyer's information. Still it just doesn't sound right. Either you are fully registered or not - regardless of whether or not you bring in the gun.

Swung by HPD after work today to register the new .22 rifle and giving the new system a go. Both “no gun” and extended hours. Was SUPER fast and easy. In and out in less than 10 mins. No line. One person was leaving when I got there and another guy came in as I was finishing up paperwork.

Seriously making me consider buying a rifle or two more, in addition to the two I already have on order and expect in the next couple of weeks. Maximize my time at HPD as well as show demand signal for the extended hours.

Did they add on 'not inspected' on your registration?

Nope. Reg form doesn’t look different than any of my others.  I was going to ask what that notation meant if they added it to mine.  When I got to the counter, one guy asked “no gun?” And I replied “nope”.

I went yesterday with a stripped lower, I heard the guy behind the window tell the other guy behind the window "mark inspected on the form".

Went to register on the Friday after thanksgiving, and they stamped firearm not inspected on the Firearms Information Form(HPD84). The registration looks the same, nothing on it about not inspected.
