If you've ever viewed a Website's HTML source, YOU might be a HACKER! (Read 1234 times)

A journalist found a problem with a Missouri State website.

He pressed the "View Source" feature on his browser, and noticed the actual social security numbers of all teachers in the state were embedded in the source.

He then notified the state's offices involved with the site as well as the governor's office.  He said the paper he worked for would delay publishing the story until the state has fixed the problem.

After the  site was fixed, and the story was published, the governor is now pushing to have the reporter charged for "hacking" the website!  The governor also says the "fix" CAUSED by the hacker will cost the state $50M.   :wtf:

This man is a Governor?  I guess he's no better or worse than the Resident in the White House.

I am guessing he doesn't know much about computers. Just hope he is adult enough to apologize when someone explains to him what the reporter actually did.

Guess again.  Even after everyone with a brain reported on this and commented how stupid calling the reporter a hacker is, the Governor doubled down on calling for prosecution.  And a SuperPAC that supports the Governor is spreading the narrative that the article was intended to embarrass the Governor and was politically motivated.

Guess he doesn't have the maturity one would hope a governor would have.
Hopefully this will lead to his ultimate loss of his job next election cycle.

If they do bring charges against the journalist I hope he sues for malicious prosecution though it sucks the taxpayers have to foot the bill for his stupidity.
