My arthritis is getting to the point I am giving up on large bore pistols. So no 44 mag for me. However, I shot 200 rounds of 357 mag the other day and I was not hurting later on. I am really considering getting an original Python and a new one (when the prices come down). It’s funny, now I have the money for an original Python and I cannot find one locally. When I didn’t have the money they were all over the place.  :grrr:  I would buy a new one but right now the ones available are going for more than MSRP. I refuse to pay more than that for a pistol that will go for less in a year or so.
re: 44 Mag, Desert Eagle in 44 Mag with the integral muzzle brake is actually pretty mild, but it's so frickin heavy.  It's a real deltoid workout to hold that iron weight out at arms length for a couple of full mags worth.  I need to work out mo' often, I know.  but I guess that heavy mass does its' job in absorbing recoil.

just MHO.

but anyways, back to the SA-35.  beautiful piece of functional art.  might have to make the trek for a PTA when it becomes avail with commie 10rd mags.  wonder if they'll come out with a polished blued version?  although parkerized is probably more practical for actual beater usage.

another good handgun for handling the 44mag is a Ruger Superblackhawk Hunter with 7.5" barrel.  I have the Bisley model which i think helps a little more than the plowhandle grip bc the grip is easier to hold on to, IMO.
DE 44 is significantly heavier, tho.  I had a scope on my SBH hunter but was too heavy for me, so went back to the iron sights

back OT.  sort of.  seems like Springfield Armory is coming out with some newer-ish firearms lately.  like their bolt guns, striker fired pistols, updated 1911's, and now the Hi Power
always good to have newer, updated models to choose from

Not sure if have that same model, but I have a Ruger Redhawk 7.5 in barrel that my dad left me.  It's pretty darn mild even with the hottest .44 Mag ammo that I've shot.  With .44 SPL, feels pretty darn mellow with that heavy gun.

I'm not a big fan of DE.  I've shot dozens of rounds over the years with the .50 AE and .44 Mag.  I never saw the allure.  Maybe also the first time shooting it was in a range where shots were $5 each.   :o

main difference is the Redhawk is DA, Superblackhawk is SA.  Redhawk is 2 oz heavier.  they used to make the Redhawk with optional scope mount cutouts, I dont think they make them like that anymore
both have that front heavy balance, but that helps mitigate the recoil too.
both are great revolvers

I'll have to check the box.  It's an older model, so maybe not current.  The closest on the Ruger website is this one

I love shooting that gun.  Too bad the ammo is so expensive.

I think I've mostly been shooting aluminum .44 Mag.  I think I have some brass.

Nice Hi-Power! Are those the Pachmayer grips?

Yes, it originally came with Pachmayrs, some G-10 type grips, an extra barrel and 3 magazines.  Made in Belgium, beer-can adjustable sights.

It has the right amount of wear and tear that I like--prevents it from being a safe queen and yet it is presentable.
