IIRC the study was misrepresented in the media. It was not so much a test of mask effectiveness rather it was a test of a testing device. It was to show whether this inexpensive device could be used to test things like mask effectiveness. The news presented it as if it were a good test on the mask effectiveness. IIRC the study was not done to an extent where there was enough data to make a strong determination about the effectiveness of the masks.

I don't know whether the media merely misinterpreted the study or purposefully misrepresented the study. Of maybe we as a public are guilty of reading the headlines and not the entire articles? Probably a little bit of each I think.

I was referring to media stories about this study, this was reported on quite a while ago.

I think for the CDC to do this is even worse because they should be able to interpret this type of stuff. I give them less leeway than a journalist.
