Which Electric Gun Are You Going To Buy?

Of course 1 limitation will be what is sold here in HI, but if you could get any, which one?

I'm leaning toward Taser Pulse. Decent price, compact, and has a 30 second pulse with each trigger squeeze.

I like the Pulse+.

You get 30 seconds where you can leave the Taser on the ground while it immobilizes the attacker for 30 seconds.

You can try to call 911 in that 30 seconds as you flee, but there may also be more than one attacker.

The Pulse+ will summon police to the scene as soon as you remove the Taser from the holster and disable the safety.  That frees you up from trying to multitask.

Cops have policies that they won't try to use a Taser or other nonlethal/less-than-lethal weapon without backup.  These tools aren't as effective at stopping threats (especially those with chemicals in their systems) as a firearm.  So, have a plan B.  I think "Shoot, drop it and use your 30 seconds to run for safety" is viable depending on the circumstances.

If you don't announce you have a Taser, the attacker/s might think you have a firearm and flee, so that's another thing to consider.

No matter what Taser you decide on, training should be a priority.  Using one requires a unique understanding of when, how and whether to employ them.  If you try and Tase a 400 lb Samoan linebacker, you might be the one in for a shock when it only makes him angrier!

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

A big Samoan guy was Tased in this informal test.

The size of the "attacker" does not matter as much as where he/she is shot. This test tells me the average homeowner will need 4 shots, which can be achieved with four cartridges or four weapons. Let's see if I can find a dog who knows how to operate a Taser device. AXON, the company which owns the trademark, is up 4 points today.

I don't plan to buy one.  Too expensive for what it offers.

Get a $20 one, just to have and stick it to HI's government who banned it this entire time.  And only unbanned it because a lawsuit was served. So had no lawsuit been served, HI would not take the initiative and unban tasers.

Where can you buy a $20 one that actually works?
My $20 sap cap will stop even someone on drugs. Hard to keep standing after an 8 oz lead weight hits you in the head.

Chain retail sporting stores have them. I'm not sure if HI LGS or other like stores will. Mrs. CMO bought 1 in TX at Academy.  But then returned it 1 hour later because not legal in HI yet.

No can "distrubute" per the HRS, well actually the approved bill.  Since the actual HRS was not assigned yet as it won't take effect till 1/1/22.

You mean you have to buy it from an Oahu-based shop and not Amazon or Ebay? Shucks if this is the case. Prices will probably be higher due to the newly created demand.

Much of the restrictions are placed on the seller.  You have to take a class, fill out paperwork with HPD, background check, etc....  So this why I doubt Amazon or other companies will do any of these.

So many people who want to buy a taser will be at the mercy for selection and price of local stores.

There is nothing in the law that states you cannot buy one from out of state and bring it back with you, or mail it to yourself.

This is not the official HRS, but the bill that was signed into law.

Thanks for your response and providing the helpful information.

Now...taser or stun gun...hmm. The later is cheaper. Glad we will have options come January 1, 2022.
