KHSC Silhouette Range questions
« on: November 18, 2021, 11:31:34 AM »
What I do know:

Run by private club with unlimited range use for fee of $5.00
Open on weekends only.

Questions:

How does one procure a lane?  First come, first served or sign up?

Do you shoot within your lane or can you shoot any kine targets out there?  Is it a free for all?  LOL!

Can you bring stuff like soda cans and 2 liter bottles to shoot?  (kinda figure "no" but wanted to ask..of course clean up after)

How far out is the maximum distance you can shoot at targets?

Thanks in advance! :shaka:

First come, first served.  However, there are plenty of folks who will share the space (or at least used to before COVID).

No soda cans.  Can shoot (pretty much) whatever is out there.  No shoot da chickins or egrets. . . or da cats. . .

Max distance, pretty far.  I used to only shoot pistol, so 100 yards (or meters) was far enough.

There used to be steel targets at 200 meters but I have not been to the silhouette range in a while.
You can check with the RO on duty for more info.
Most of the club members I knew were a friendly and helpful bunch of guys.
Enjoy.

shoot steel targets at 50m, 75m, 100m
only shoot the targets in between the flags.  outside the flags is for competitions.  competitions can shoot out to 200m
shoot any pistol in any caliber, or rifles in 22LR.  seems weird cannot shoot pistol caliber carbines, but can shoot an AR pistol or pistol in 308.  but i guess rules is rules

What is latest on lever action with say .357 Mag or .44? I recall was mixed, but many folks said no.

I’ve seen some folks picking up brass, but in the times I was saving brass (didn’t all the time, depends who I was shooting with) I picked it up frequently as we were shooting. Didn’t encounter brass vultures. Seen some of that on the bullseye range though. Maybe the vultures change venues.  ;D

Last time I was there (long time ago as well), I recall the 200 m targets. But they were way too far for me. I also was told by some that not supposed to shoot those, or something like that. I never even thought about shooting them, so didn’t ask.

Would love them opening during the weekdays, but I guess I'm asking too much.

But still..... ;D

the RSO's on silhouette side don't really vulture the brass so much anymore
I'm not so sure about the lever actions in 357 and 44.  but i did recently ask about  a friends Ruger PCC in 9mm and they said no can

Once I get my .22 rifle zero’ed, want to hit up the silhouette range more.

If they said can with .357 lever, oh boy…  8)

Haha. Ya. I just meant if say can, even more so I want a .357 Mag lever action.

If 9 mm PCC would be allowed, I better jump on loading some 9.

there's a few rules that I think are strange
the one at silhouette where no can shoot PCC but can shoot 308 pistol
and the one at rifle where can shoot pistol, but only if get optic on it.  what is the difference if get optic or not?  you are still shooting a pistol.  is it more accurate with the optic?  not really

I really like shooting 22 pistol and rifle at silhouette side.  more fun than shooting bullseye all the time, although bullseye is more challenging
still challenging shooting those small steel targets at 75 and 100m, especially if there is wind
