In Lakewood, a group of suspects ages 15 to 20 stormed a Home Depot store around 8:30 p.m. and grabbed tools such as crowbars, mallets and sledgehammers before getting away in vehicles that were waiting outside, FOX 11 of Los Angeles reported.
One entire section of hammers was completely cleared out, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies told the station.
As many as 10 vehicles pulled up outside the store and the thieves donned ski masks before launching their spree, KCBS-TV of Los Angeles reported.
RAMPANT SMASH-AND-GRAB THEFT PART OF FAILURE TO PROSECUTE CRIMINALS, TOLERATED BY OFFICIALS, EXPERTS SAY
The theft prompted fears that the stolen tools would be used to commit more robberies at other stores in the area, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told the station.

Sound familiar? As firearms owners we are often painted as the suppliers of firearms in the event of a theft.

On a related note, maybe there is a correlation here.

Mayor London Breed announced a major budget cut to the San Francisco police and sheriff's departments over the next two years.
In a press conference Friday, the mayor said $120 million in funding would be redirected from law enforcement agencies to instead be spent on addressing disparities in the Black community.

Sounds like they were gearing up for a trip to Nordstrom's!

It's sad that thieves can't even afford the tools of their trade.   O0 :(

yeah, it's sad. Times are hard you know.
We could start a Gofundme for destitute looters.

Why buy ‘em when you can just pick’em up/take ‘em on the way to the next job.

So the businesses just pass on the theft losses to the consumer in the form of higher prices.  Seems like the law-abiding citizens are willingly or unwillingly getting screwed every which way and twice on Sunday.

Seems like being a cop is getting a bit easier.  No need do nothing.

Insurance usually covers theft, and they have proof the things were stolen.

That's true of national chains at least.  Some smaller retailers barely able to make a profit sometimes have no insurance or only have enough to cover certain types of losses.

They're not thieves, they're "pro-active recyclers"

The ironic thing:  most of those "shoppers" likely have the money to pay for what they took, unlike the truly "financially challenged".

Now they’re gonna get mo’ money.
And with hammers and crowbars….Mo’ money.
And with little police interference and reduced police funding…..Mo’ money.

The irony is the people who pushed to defund the police. Now the victims.
Before that pushed against the 2A. Now the victims.
