black friday/cyber monday purchases?
« on: November 27, 2021, 08:54:51 PM »
i ordered, of course, HEADS
135 gr 9mm from bayou bullets- was 5% off the 3300 bulk pack, at checkout said "additional discount if total is over $300" added another 500, and the discount increased to 15%
biggest issue is wait time, waited over 3.5 months when ordering the day after the 2020 elections
cerakote hawaii just said on IG last week that he waited 5 months for his delivery
so, am expecting close to 6 months wait
not an issue, because i am ordering for "a friend"
also ordered, for "a friend", 230 gr .45ACP, just 1000 from SNS casting, 10% off, shipment is supposed to be fast

also received in trade from a different "friend", a civivi knife and a mora knife from knifecenter (came with a free civivi hat)
this was in return for some powder, which i didn't need since i own no reloading components nor presses
and i don't have any guns either...

am on amazon right now ordering this
https://www.amazon.com/Survival-Medicine-Handbook-Essential-Guide/dp/0988872501/
4th edition, just came out in the last week
and a new holster for "a friend" whose Safariland ALS holster has been locking up

am considering picking up a kamado style grill from sams club online (free shipping for plus members)
both costco and sams club did not carry this year in warehouse  :grrr:

did anyone else get any cool toys "for a friend"?

Bought some heads for 6.5.  I will put in an order on Midway USA for their free shipping, but mostly stuff I need anyways and not really on sale.

I picked up a couple of knives through a sale on KnifeCenter last week.  Pretty happy with the new Civivi and We knives.  I'll try to post about them in one of the knife threads.

I'll likely keep an eye on sales throughout today, particularly on Amazon.  I saw some really good deals on Optics Planet for a scope mount, but they are out of stock and projected window is 1-3 months, so didn't order.

sns casting sent a shipping notice this morning
USPS tracking says "label printed, awaiting package"
not bad service considering the volume of orders they must have...

Heard that the Geissele site crashed again on their Black Friday sale.  They've had a LOT of problems with Black Friday sales in the past, where one year they had products being delivered well into March/April the following year.  At least my order took until around spring.  I did see that they were getting roasted on SM for it.  Someone at Geissele was responding pretty harshly back during that time, to the point where I would bet that they lost a decent amount of business because of that.

I really like their products, particularly their AR triggers.  I'll likely still buy their products in the future despite their challenges.

I tried to buy some G triggers during the BF sale.  was not able to get in.  Later on, I read their terms, apparently it's changed, now they will only ship to the contiguous states, and no PO boxes.  That's different than before.  It wouldn't let me log in.  I bought triggers and scope mounts from them this year, when they had sales earlier.  oh well.

so I changed my entered ZIP code for the shipping calculator to a mainland ZIP code, and after that, then I was able to log in.  But by then, the triggers were out-of-stock, didn't even get to the shipping dilemma.  Luckily, Primary Arms had the triggers later on, for the same 30% off that the G website had been offering, so, meh, not to bad.

just a little frustrating trying to hammer at the web site for 2 days trying to get in, only to find out I'm locked out because I'm in a ban state.  That's the Cost of Living in Hawaii.

If you enjoy lock picking, in the future invest in the lock picking gun. It makes everything way easier but kinda noisy. I had to buy a new lock picking set plus shims after my ex took mines. Lol. Might I suggest sparrow lock picking sets. They are awesome. No, I dont break into peoples houses, I had to use them for work. And Tbh its actually quite fun if you like puzzles (board puzzles) finding waaldo etc kinda stuff. Its a challenge. :stopjack:

Interesting.  I read the shipping thing and they also highlight ITAR.  Like you said, usually can find good deals on Geissele at other sites.  Primary Arms and Brownells are two that I've bought from in the past, so no worries about pricing or availability.  That and Geissele used to use a SUPER slow delivery service/option.  Maybe they are focusing on being a manufacturer and have other vendors take care of the retail aspect.

If you just want to bump tool then a gun is good. A rake does the job too.

Lishi tool is the best to me.  Only downside is expensive and brand specific.

Amazon sells lishi tools.  Covert instruments is good quality stuff too.

do you have a suggestion which lock picking gun and where to purchase?

Yup, their fun to play with and come in handy if you actually need one and happen to have it.
MOST Padlocks are pretty easy but the better the lock the tougher.
Good door locks can be challenging.
It's a "touchy-feely" thing so you should have no problem.
