Anybody know the process to get a duplicate registration? My ex might have thrown my original reg away.

I've never needed my registration form for any reason.  It's convenient to provide to the buyer when selling a firearm, but not required.

If there's ever a need to prove if it's registered, HPD will be the authority.

I personally would wait until the next time I go to HPD and just ask ... unless I think I'll need it -- such as going to a gun range that enforces registration and possession laws.

You can go to any DMV office in your county and request one, or mail in the form:

Mailing address:
City and County of Honolulu
Department of Customer Services
Motor Vehicle, Licensing, and Permits Division
P.O. Box 30330
Honolulu, HI 96820

There's no cost for just the registration certificate if you have your license plate decal.

We misplaced the envelope with my daughter's renewed registration and decal.  We went to the Wahiawa Police Station DMV office and got replacements.  There was a small fee for the decal IIRC.

Here's the form for requesting a replacement for a tag or decal/emblem:

https://www.honolulu.gov/rep/site/csd/onlineforms/cslmvr3.pdf

For the decal, I think it was a 2-step process.  We needed the registration certificate first, which we then used to get the replacement decal.  The individual helping us let us request the registration, then called us up to the window when it was ready.  At the same time, we requested the decal.  We then had to pay for the decal.

Call the DMV for specifics.  This might have changed since we did it.  The links I gave have links to locations and phone numbers.

Have fun!

Dang my bad I should have been more specific. My hand gun registration.

LOL!  I had my driver's license renewal on the brain.  Drove me right over that cliff!   :shake:

Since you preserved my reply by quoting, I'll just undo my little rabbit hole adventure ....

Recommend scanning your registrations so that you have an electronic file, that should be backed up.  Then you can reprint.  Also getting a duplicate Hunters Ed card ($5 online), request an electronic copy and reprint if damaged or lost.

The ATF made a simpler form for individuals to use to keep track of their personal collections if you wish to use it.  You only file it with yourself so no big brother watching you but it’s actually something useful from the government for a change.

The officers in the Firearms Unit will print out a list of your current gun registrations. This is helpful whether you are staying or exiting from the state. A fellow gun owner who was moving out of HI to TX needed to get such a list since his firearms were already packed and on a container ready for shipment. Just attach the list to a letter stating that you are leaving paradise for a hellhole elsewhere. Some laws in this state get you coming or going, but the exit one is truly egregious.
