This is working so well, the staunch gun control Democrats in the Senate are crying "Uncle!"  They are "willing to settle" for fewer gun control measures (no universal background check, and other big asks) in exchange for smaller gun control regulations.

I think it's obvious they are bargaining from a position of weakness.  Any additional gun laws they withdraw are not gifts to gun owners.  It's like asking someone to agree to a less painful beating.  I think the correct answer is "No beating."

"We were asking for 40 lashes, but since we can't get past cloture, we're willing to settle for 25 if you'll let the vote come to the floor."

Do they think the Republicans are that stupid?
