It was an announcement from the Shot Show for a new product (price not announced yet).

Don’t know about you but I get excited over new 22 ammo especially anything that makes the claims it does.

Sorry about that!

Are there any sites in particular you guys purchase your 22s from? I'm usually in the market for HV stuff since my GSG 1911 is very picky about ammo. Only mini mags have run well in it so far, although tbf I've only tried blazers and Aguila HV.

https://ammoseek.com/ammo/22lr is a great tool. Lists a ton of stuff, with filter tools to see only what you want. Default sort is cost per round, bottom up.

Funny you should ask. I just started a thread in Classifieds to try and find partners to split cases of ammo: https://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=44413.0

Thanks, I use ammo seek, but I can't say it always lists the best deals. Was just curious if there was a site or two people like to use. Let me mosey on over to your thread...

Quick update: Young Guns has some new 22 on the shelf.

CCI SV at $18/100 is pretty steep, but it's there.
CCI AR at $50/300 isn't cheap, but not terrible.

Sellier & Bellot "Club" at $6/50 is fair, I think. They'll sell you 5 boxes at a time. In my bolt action that shoots respectable.

Cheers.

Thanks for the update.  Yeah, that seems pretty steep, but also seems like "going rate" now, and probably decent compared to not that long ago.   :(

Just got word that the next ammo shipment from Kaleo is on the way.  It may be a while until it reaches Hawaii, with mid to late Feb projected.  But with the caution that with current shipping issues overall, likely on the longer end of the spectrum.  I've had a bunch of packages delayed by a week or more.  Not a big deal for me as I am currently swamped with other stuff, so the timing above works well.

I have more Eley Match on the way, with some Eley Target and RWS Rifle Match for .22, as well as some match 6.5 CM to feed the new centerfire rifle.   :geekdanc:

Some insight on RWS rimfire ammo.  (From Facebook "Precision Rimfire" blog)

"Lee Himelright

I just lot tested and bought some RWS100 from Annie NA. Talking them about ammo.

The Rifle Match is made on its own machine using the same components at the RWS50/100. Rifle Match and their cheaper stuff is cheaper because it ran/made faster.
They don’t sort by quality like Lapua. They spec check it but Rifle Match, no matter how good it test cannot become RWS50/100..
It’s just a really good batch of Rifle Match..

RWS50 and 100 is made on the same machine and a lot slower.. that is why, during times like these, you can usually find one or the other. Right now 100 is here, and it’s been here but it’s running out and the rws50 is due in soon."

Ahh, interesting.  Looking forward to trying the different ammo.  Did notice what you mentioned about the "waves" of RWS 50/100.  Stayed away from that "tier" of ammo, at least for now.

Ammo prices going down slowly.

Bruno Shooters has Lapua Center-X for $1412 per case.
Creedmoorsports has it for $1385 per case.

Both available yesterday and this morning, so production is catching up to demand.
I check daily the several "good" websites for Lapua ammo, and is the first time it was available in about a year.........

It will not go as low as pre-hoarding COVID times at $1000 or $1100 per case, but should come down a little more.

Good to see the prices going down.  I think I’ll buy buy the case lot and just hope it shoots in my gun.  Went to the range on Sunday.  It was windy…20mph but I could still group at 50yds.  100 yds was a different thing though.  The wind changes made it difficult.

Akubone1,

"I think I'll buy the case lot and just hope it shoots in my gun......"

When you buy a case, you can make the rifle & ammo combination to shoot a little better with the use of a tuner like Harrell's tuner.
Basically it can reduce vertical stringing in shot groups, and thus reduce your group size a lot.
It's easier to tune a rifle and ammo if the ammo is in the "good and better" class to eliminate quality inconsistencies and flyers.

I usually tune my BR rifles with good quality 22LR of which I have at least a brick (500 rds.).
This way, at least the tuner settings will be at least consistent for 500 rds or 10 boxes of 22LR.
Better if I have 5000 rds. so that I can tune more than 1 BR rifle to the ammo.

As quirky as 22LR is, some of my BR rifles do not like a particular brand or particular lot of ammo, no matter if I put a tuner or not................. :'(

Anyway, if I had a case of good quality 22LR, I'm pretty sure I could make my rifles shoot it well with a tuner.

My new to me CZ 457 seems to like CCI SV (5 shots at 50 yards today, not too windy at Koko Head)

I have shot fewer than 50 rounds through this rifle but I think I'll stick with CCI SV for now.

JC2721,

Your rifle must like CCI SV and you are a lucky guy for it.
Shoots real well, your rifle and ammo combination.

If you have any flyers with CCI SV, it is probably the ammo, and not the barrel or you; as CCI SV
is not categorized as target, premium ammo.

How were the other groups of 5 when you went shooting today?

Try another brand of ammo which is up one level to tighten your one-hole groups..................

What a treat. With some luck you'll find a few other similar cost ammo options your rifle shoots this well. CCI SV is plenty tight to go 200m (Big Bore lanes on Silhouette side) most days. This past Sunday was an exception. I'd call it a swirling mess: 3mil right to 1mil left of target minute to minute.

The CCI Velocitor shot pretty well in my stock CZ 457 AT-One.  A buddy told me that particular ammo was middle of the road at best.  At the prices I bought that locally, the match ammo I got through Kaleo Arms was cheaper for some of the ammo I have coming in.

What's the rest of the setup? Are you using a bipod for the muzzle end and a sandbag for the butt, or one of the fancier Caldwell or similar frames?
