Oh hell yes!  I’d do it if it wasn’t for the commute! :D

The commute for me would still be 20-25 minutes on surface streets. Or less than 15 mins if I take the freeway. And traffic is not bad no matter what time of the morning.

Only thing is my entire background is QA/QC in construction/software/hardware so I am not sure there is position I qualify for. All they are looking for are production associates. I assume it means assembly work.

They offer lots of perks which I am not really interested in except: “Up to 50% off MSRP on Ruger Firearms”. I could really get into that!!!  :D

You really think your years of reloading and all the technical knowledge you've accumulated won't count for something?

I bet the number of people with any real ammunition manufacturing skills and experience are few and far between.

As with most job applications, it's always up to who you're up against.  Timing is key -- but so is being related to the hiring manager!   :geekdanc:

I really didn’t look at it like that. I just saw they are looking for assemblers and thought my experience was not relevant. I actually wouldn’t mind assembly work. It would be really cool if I could get into their QA/QC department.

Ruger has been advertising and running job fairs for almost a year now looking for assemblers. I have looked on their website and in Prescott that is all they are looking for that is part time. I’ll give their HR a call and see if I can get through and talk to someone.

If they have a QA/QC job you want, let them know.  Most assemblers aren't really keen on doing QC unless it's a pay bump or they can't physically do the assembly.  If you tell them that's where your main skillset and interests lie, they might actually need someone -- may so they can send Phill back to his assembly job after they told him to do QC when Ralph retired!   :geekdanc:

You never know what the plant needs until you ask.  Sometimes the managers just need to be given options for them to decide what they really need.

I say go for it.  And let us know what the "Employee's Discount Program" includes!

One of the worst things about an ammunition factory job -- listening to all the jokes with the same punchline:  "You're fired!"

No paycheck but you get to take home new guns every pay period.  Sounds like a win-win situation to me, lol.

Go for it, if you don't like it you could pull a millennial and just quit ( :wtf:)

I don’t need the paycheck. As a matter of fact I have to limit how much I make. Otherwise the feds will dock my SS check. They will take away $1 for every $2 I go over their set amount. For next year it is just under $20k for the year. That’s pretty severe.

We are friends with a couple of business owners out here now. And one has no problem getting and retaining help. She owns a very popular restaurant here. She runs a tight ship but generally speaking everyone seems very happy there. And the wait staff has pretty much been the same people since they reopened after the lockdown. They do mainly dine in business. But the other one owns a pretty popular pizza place. She does mostly take out business. She is having the hardest time getting and retaining help. And the first thing she said was it is hard to keep these younger people. They just stop showing up one day without an explanation.

I don’t want to act like a Millennial. Then I would be as bad as the one that got banned here.
