I'm confused.  Assuming these robberies and shootings are all the work of the same two suspects,
how did 2 people under the age of 21 get a handgun?  That's against the law ...

As someone who goes to Vegas a lot, most recently last month, I can say that most parking garages are not the safest.  Even the high end casino's that have lots of security in the hotel/casino, their garages have no staff or security to be seen. No one even doing patrols, that I saw anyways.

The exception is the Palazzo and Venetian who have a guy at the entrance, but once you pass that, the garage is an eerie ghost town.

This is 1 reason why we carry, but also keeping the head on a swivel.

And this bothers me to no end.  Instead of these A$$hole politicians pushing laws that hurt and restrict law-abiding gun owners who cannot exercise 2a rights, how about spending time and resources in restricting criminals from illegally obtaining these firearms.

And too many of them are being released back out on the streets with little or no charges against them.  Meanwhile an innocent senior woman from Waipahu probably in Vegas to enjoy what little precious time she has left on Earth is dead.

It was quite a distance away so all I can say is it looked like they were getting held up. We called the police and the hotel. The people got in their car and left. So when security and the police showed up we didn’t have much to tell them.

We decided at that time it was worth paying for valet parking from now on. I’m getting older and my wife is obviously disabled. We make a perfect target for being robbed. So we do everything we can to avoid it at all cost. Avoiding those type of situations have a better outcome.

Put them on a plane back to Hawaii and drop them off half way over.

My last trip was about 6 years ago.  Many strip hotels had just announced starting to charge for parking in the next few months -- as soon as they had the machines installed.

Before that, guests in most hotels didn't pay, self-park was normally free on the strip and a few bucks downtown (Binion's and Cal charged maybe $3 with validation for a few hours), and valet everywhere was free (excluding tip).

Many didn't know how cheap valet was, and they wound up spending time walking to and from the parking garage to the main casino/hotel.

Even though there are few security patrols, the parking garages still have security cameras.  Anyone committing a crime close to a casino will be picked up on video entering, leaving and as they move through the property.  Most know this, but with masks being the norm, I can see how some believe they can remain anonymous.

Yeah, valet prices are horrendous these days. Better than taking a chance alone in a parking garage with my disabled wife IMHO. 

If you don't plan on driving outside the strip & downtown areas, Uber and Lyft are reportedly cheaper than taxis.  The ride is a flat fee based on point-to-point, so you aren't subject to taxi drivers trying to jack up the fare by taking a longer route.

There's even an Uber/Lyft location at the airport, separate from the taxis, shuttles and limos.

So, if your circumstances don't require a car for lots of off-strip travel, taking an Uber between casinos, to shows, shopping and so on might be cheaper and more convenient now that parking and gas prices need to be included in the cost analysis.

Hotels now have a ride share pick up area.  It's funny cause maybe 15-20 cars will come to that area to pick people up before 1 single person gets into a cab. There are usually 10+cabs waiting in line.  Guess the people got fed up of all the unethical cab drivers out there trying to extend a fare by going the long route.  Even us, we had a cab tell us he doesn't know where X is. The next driver said that the guy is full of shit, because he just wanted a longer fare.  So we tipped him more than we normally would. tip. 

Ride shares have changed the game.  Not only are their prices better, but you don't get ripped off because you know the price before getting in, you can rate the driver, so if they drive crazy or have a dirty car, that causes them to be good.  Compared to cabs.

I'll bet that couple from Waipahu had no weapon of any kind, not even pepper spray or a small knife. Not that it would have done any good against a firearm, but even here I would guess 75% or more of the people you see on the street are unarmed.  Pretty good odds in favor of someone up to no good.

OC is hard to take up to vegas cause airlines dont allow at all. So they would have to spend $ for 1 up there and trash it b4 coming home.

True, but da point I was making is most people are unarmed and now days, sadly, you need to carry some type of weapon. Many Hawaii people go to Vegas 2, 3 or even 4 times a year to gamble.  I would bet over 98% do not have an easily obtainable CCW permit. Even if you had to buy a good pepper spray there and then toss or give it away, that would only be $15 to $20.
