FFL - $100
« on: January 26, 2022, 02:38:59 PM »
So I ordered a PSA complete lower for $150. But FFL cost $100. Wow! I remember when it was $50.

For future orders, is there a more reasonable priced FFL?  Or is this the going rate?

Lmk! Mahalo!

Who was that?  If you don't mind sharing?

I consider going rate $20-30.  Maybe higher for high $$$ firearm.

Mahalos! I wanted to buy a handful of entry level lowers to help my family & friends new to firearms. But $100 per lower is high. I had a friend who was my FFL in the past but he moved to the mainland. Thx for the suggestions. I’ll look at other threads in the past regarding this same question.
The FFL that charged me $100 is XRING. I’ve always enjoyed the people there and their shooting facility. But $100 per lower is way to steep to help my friends.

Mahalos again!

If you're military (Active or retired) or Law Enforcement, you can get the $25 discounted rate from OGC.

I recommend finding an FFL that's convenient to get to when the package arrives, since you'll want to view the FFL item immediately upon arrival.  If you wait too long, you might have no remedy if the item is damaged or not as expected.  Most sellers offer a 3-day return window starting from the day of delivery.

XRing is the closest dealer to my home in Mililani, but it'll be a cold day in Hell before I give them any of my business.  Even a dog knows not to crap where it sleeps.  Just saying.

I've heard of others charging in the $20 range, but as it was explained to me at OGC, $25 has to cover their cost of receiving and inventorying the package, notifying the buyer it's there, doing the state-mandated paperwork, and then dealing with the permit process.  All that takes time and resources, and $25 sometimes doesn't over that when there are problems or special circumstances that require more labor hours to resolve.  A smaller business of one or two people could charge lower rates to be competitive, which is one of the advantages of low overhead.

I think $45 is a good price for an FFL looking to cover costs and make a little profit.  Anything less is cutting profit margins to almost nothing, especially factoring in overhead, FFL and state licenses, keeping FFL items locked up for security, etc.  $100 is just ridiculous.

J. Hara Store in Kaimuki charges $50 per transfer. They open more days in the week than OGC Tactical, and the parking is more convenient. These two are my go-to stores for Gunbroker purchases.

I use Brent Hamasaki all the time.

He now is pretty much open every day, has good parking since Hamasaki Construction moved.

And the best part, $25.00 FFL fee

I go to Brent all the time.

Ahh, another resource.  I've dealt with Craig many times.  Great guy and great work/service.

Devin/Bushido has been my go-to FFL.  Last I spoke with him, he was planning to continue while be irons out things for a new shop (maybe he already has it settled).

Both great guys.  Life's too short to settle for $100 FFL. . .

In my family I have 4 nephews and 5 nieces. Three of my nephews and I are VERY close and we have our own Signal group. We discuss numerous subjects every day. One of my nephews lives in CA and is in the process of throwing a huge family party for his youngest daughter. He is short of cash and wants an AR-15 REALLY bad. So for Christmas, 2 nephews and myself purchased a lower for $100 and we also paid the additional $147 for all the FFL fees. If I remember correctly there was $75 for the paperwork, $47 for the background check and $25 transfer fee. And this FFL was one of the cheapest I found. Some were charging around $175 to do a transfer.

Consider yourself lucky.
