I think she needs better punishment than to be worth millions and given 2 weeks off without pay. That is more like an unpaid vacation than a punishment IMHO. The only thing is she is being forced off during black history week. What they should do is educate her and her audience by being forced to interview a different holocaust survivor for 2 weeks. During black history month. JMHO

2 weeks is nothing to her. I watched longer than just her statement to see if there as any context.  A few seconds after, it seemed like she was leading into that direction, until the other host spoke and nope. She has no clue what racism is.

Or tinfoil time, they're changing what racism is so they can call anything racist, except for actual racist acts. Like how they've already changed the definition of other things to fit their agenda/narrative.

Whoopi grew up and continued with the false "understanding" that racism requires the skin colors to be different.  That's how she saw herself -- an oppressed victim of society.  She was dating Ted Danson when he did a Roast Dinner in her honor wearing a tux, top hat, and black face.  She defended him through the backlash it caused. 

Over the years, I think her cheese has started to slip off her cracker (not a racial slur). 

I've never liked her "acting".  With good writers, almost any other actress could have done what she did -- probably better.

As for the suspension, I think no one who speaks their mind on TV, YouTube, Twitter, or any other medium should be "cancelled".  If they are within the bounds of the law (don't support pedophilia or murder openly), then their thoughts and opinions should be offered and discussed.  As long as they aren't using their celebrity status to push for everyone else to embrace their opinions, I'm good with open and honest dialogue.

I don't care if the Left is pushing to censor anyone that offends them and are now reaping what they sewed.  My opinion applies to everyone.  Nobody should be cancelled over something they said that was not intended as a put down, insult, etc.

Had this been a conservative talk show host, the Left would be boycotting and writing letters to sponsors to get them fired. 

If we want them to do better, we have to do better, too.  Once you stoop to their tactics, you are no better than they are.

You left out that fact checkers would also be stating their feelings. But they have gone the way of the dodo.  And I think they would have been fired within 24 hours.

I don't watch the view because they have nothing of benefit for me. Either educational wise or entertainment wise. So like Alonzo Harris says, "the media is 99% bullshit, but they entertain me".

Whoopi did make a valid discussable point.
The bigger lesson is it was about humans being horrible to humans and the atrocities humans will commit on other humans.
A lot of times it’s Nationalism or Tribalism or Religionism.
She just didn’t articulate it well.

This is a complicated issue. Sure, she is not attractive, but plenty of women are not beautiful, and even the beautiful ones can turn ugly, on the inside or outside.



Thus, I do not subtract any points here. I won't deny that she is black, and blacks have suffered as much or more than other races in the U.S. As for using a Jewish last name, that could be due to her identifying with a Jew in her family. No, I do not want her to get genetically tested, since that did not work for Senator Elizabeth Warren, either. Was her [Warren's] claim to be part American Indian any more ludicrous than Trump's family claiming to be Swedish vice German?
