No-holds-barred warfare still has not begun in Ukraine until Russia starts acting like the US imperial military similar to how they conducted war in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.  Until then, all Russian-based reports suggest Russia is holding out for a diplomatic outcome, albeit, paying a steep price for it on the battlefield.

still waiting for proof that military infrastructure was mostly taken out...

Still waiting for your working definition of what constitutes proof so that I can understand and ask for the same thing on other forum members posts.

I don't think this will happen because they look at Ukraine as 1 of their own.  Compared to Russia's war with other countries.

you made the statement like it was a fact
then you tried to back it up with a chinese youtube video about a russian defense department report that described destroying tanks, armored personnel carriers and trucks as "infrastructure" which they are clearly not
i guess you cannot prove it, so just give me evidence that it is "mostly taken out", preferably not from russian imperialist media. but if that's all you got...

Although any country is capable of resorting to the carpet bombing of civilian areas like the US empire is guilty of doing in its own illegal wars for the past 20 years, I agree with you that Russia wants to avoid the total destruction of Ukraine.  From all the non-US imperial propaganda outlets that have not been censored by the empire, it is clear that peace might have already been achieved if not for the US empire's continued financial and indirect military support of the Waffen-SS and mercenaries sent to keep the war going in Ukraine.

I don't think the US carpet bombed anyone in the last 20 years. Hit civilian areas yes, but not carpet bomb. My definition of carpet bomb is like what happened in WW2.  Where an entire city was leveled. I could be wrong, so correct me if I am.

The last reported carpet bombing by the US was Operation Linebacker II against North Vietnam in December 1972.

That will be 50 years ago as of December this year.

Carpet bombing of mostly civilian-populated cities is considered a war crime.  Given the advances in guided munitions, carpet bombing has almost no tactical, and even less strategic, benefit.

The Military Channel had a thing on advancements of artillery.  Due to the angle of the shell falling, in urban environments, the buildings close to each other get in the way. There was a new shell being developed that can be come down at a steeper angle that had some kind of GPS in it with movable fins for guidance.  The problem they had was the vibration caused by the initial bang messed up the computer components.

With that being said, there are vids of some kind of munition hitting what looks like condo buildings in Ukraine.

My mistake as you are right.  I believe the correct terms used in the 21st century were "shock and awe" and the civilian casualties were called "collateral damage".

My mistake as you are right.  I believe the correct terms used in the 21st century were "shock and awe" and the civilian casualties were called "collateral damage".

"Shock and Awe" as a tactic/phrase was first named and explained in 1996.  That was the 20th Century.  I've seen no other uses of that phrase officially in the 21st Century.

"Collateral Damage" is a term that's been used for a very long time.  It entered common usage in media reports as the military was developing more "smart" munitions in the 1970s to minimize unintended death and destruction of civilians and non-military resources.

There are other terms used "in the 21st Century" for those things.  Saying "the correct terms used in the 21st century" implies they are either specific to the 21st Century alone, or the terms formally used for Shock and Awe and Collateral Damage were not correctly applied until recently.  Neither is true.

You used a specific term:  Carpet Bombing.  Carpet Bombing is carpet bombing.  There is no "nuance" nor timeframe that makes your misstatement correct in any context.

Well, others seemed to have used that term to refer to the US imperial campaign during the Iraq War in 2003

Why don't you ask the same question to forum member "Groveler" who slams Americans that are affiliated with the Democratic Party in almost every post that he uploads to this forum?

I am sure the many Democrats that are members or visit this forum would appreciate not being collectively ostracized and threatened by his posts.    :shaka:
