Cool thing about lawsuits -- the majority are either dropped or are settled out of court.

I have a feeling people like Whoopi would be advised to settle.  As a public person, her opinion on The View and Social Media can do much more damage than Billy Joe Jim Bob can on Facebook.

Once he was acquitted, the opinions of Rittenhouse's enemies were no longer protected speech.  They became lies, and the people pushing them after the verdict must be held accountable for their lies.

OJ Simpson sued a Vegas hotel for defamation -- actions unrelated to his murder trial -- and they settled.

TBH, I was waiting for Trump to do this after the last 4 years. This is 1 think he disappointing me on.  Should have been like Nick Sandman 2.0.

When you're a public figure -- something you intentionally created and used to your advantage -- you have a more difficult time suing anyone for their opinion of you.  It's double for Trump, since he is also a political figure.

Nick Sandman and Kyle Rittenhouse were not public figures, nor were they using their notoriety for personal gain.  They were forced into the spotlight by the media.  Kyle even avoided media interviews until after the trial.  They were private citizens who were lied about and painted as racists and White Supremacists without any evidence other than Social Media accusations and "feelings."

I'm not a fan of lawsuits, especially ones like this.
The man deserves some compensation, if he can prove
that the actions of the "false witness" harmed him.
That is often pretty subjective.

Sort of like I'm a Fag and you won't bake me a wedding cake,
I'll sue you,  sort of thing.
No harm there other than pride.
But the Fags get their way by use of fear
and intimidation.

Whoopie and her fellow progressives are no different. 
Fear and intimidation.

There is a way to fix that problem.
but that would require morality, and discipline.
Traits sadly missing in  a significant portion of the population.
Over 80 million of them at last count.

Trump would have a harder case to make as I understand. As a public personality the standard is a little different than a guy like Sandman or Rittenhouse. Trump doesn't have the best record of honest public statements either though and this might hurt cases he could make, not sure about that though.
