It looks like Obama has made his pick for his Supreme Court nominee.

What does this mean for us? I don't know. She hasn't hasn't been a judge before and hasn't handed down any decisions. She also hasn't made many comments on Second Amendment issues. The biggest statement I could find was as follows:
In response to a question from Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, Kagan said: "If I am confirmed, I will commit to show Heller and the principles articulated in it the full measure of respect that is due to all constitutional decisions of the (Supreme) Court. Only highly unusual circumstances can justify the solicitor general's office in asking the court to reconsider a decision, especially one as thoroughly considered as Heller. Once again, there is no question, after Heller, that the Second Amendment guarantees individuals the right to keep and bear arms and that this right, like others in the Constitution, provides strong although not unlimited protection against governmental regulation."

That statement seems like she may be moderately friendly (or more friendly than Justice John Paul Stevens).

Be aware, this appointment will have no affect on the McDonald v. Chicago decision as that will be made before the next Justice is appointed.

What do you guys think?

edit: oops, I misspelled Elena Kagan's name in the original title

I am not a lawyer.

Even the media is calling her a wild card being no one knows her standpoint on issues.  The NRA usually issues statements about  new political appointments and how they affect us.  I have not seen any word from the NRA yet.

They're calling her a moderate... but then again Obama was packaged as a "moderate" and we know how that turned out.  The fact that Obama is the one putting her name up is enough cause for scrutiny with a fine-toothed comb.
