What's the Word on Ammo
« on: March 14, 2022, 01:30:27 PM »
So with COVID/BLM/Antifa being over in our nation, I expected ammo prices to drop. Due to the demand and panic buying over.

But now we have a supply issue, so maybe not.  Any thoughts?

Word I got/heard was many distributors are out, so. . .

I saw some pretty good prices recently on 9 mm.  Not near as good as what it was prior to the recent madness, but less than 0.40/round.

This is from my personal experience.

On the mainland, 9mm is plentiful.  Prices have come down to .33 a round plus tax and maybe freight.(Somesights offer free freight to 40+ Contiguous States - California is NOT one of them)

I do go to Las Vegas and shoot there.  Thus i have Ammo Stored there (at a friends house)

The lowest i have shipped ammo to hawaii (Not by me)  was about .38 with Freight and tax.  (Bulk 1000) (no longer available.)

Aloha!

I hate to think this but in my opinion ammo prices might go up again.  Delivery costs, shipping costs, materials all will go up due to current events and inflation.

Also availability might be sparse too. :(

Hawaii is in a unique situation. The monopoly on shipping makes everything more expensive, but we have so many people dying of vax injuries and leaving the state that their stashes are ending up on the second hand market.

I'm sure a lot of shops would love it if they could keep prices artificially high, but now that inflation is across the board and everyone who wanted to horde is probably sitting on a pile already, it makes more sense to focus on other preps that are useful for the other 99.999% of the time when there's not a shootout.

My guess is there will be a lot of discounts in the near future, followed by extreme inflation.

I've noticed pricing on many things going way up since the beginning of the year.  I've seen rifle scopes go up anywhere from 10-25%.  I've read from at least one mfr that supply chain issues affecting prices.  In addition to prices, there are many items, not just ammo and firearms that have been in short supply for a while.  Labradar and other stuff like presses being among them.   >:(

Not checked the local Tucson Sportsmans this visit, but last December, they had crates of .308 sitting on the floor.
No shortage here.
