What happens if Ukraine and Russia fight to a stalemate?
Lock both leaders naked in a 20x20 cage and fight to the death.  Whoever wins becomes the ruler of both countries. Put it on PPV for $250. I am sure that event will sell in the hundreds of millions.

Kind of looks like Russia doesn't want
40 million fellow Slavs on their border
all pissed off at them.
Russia has enough fire power to flatten Ukraine,
but his army can't control those people.  They have had a
taste of Freedom and they aren't going back to the "good old days".
I don't think he wants to kill them all.
Sort of like Lincoln pardoning the secessionists in 1865.
Stupid but it was the best choice at the time.
We'll see what develops.
We have learned that the Russians can only fight a "scorched Earth" kind of
War.  They can't do a Power projection
like America can( however we always gets defeated by internal politics,
So we are both losers for different reasons).
I predict that an option will be offered to the people of Ukraine and They will vote it up or down.

I'd be OK with them being clothed. But if you into 2 naked guys fighting, then it's all G.

More entertaining would be clothed, blind folded fighting.

Putin mentioned the Ukraine people are Russian people, so he doesn't want to kill the civilians unnecessary.  Hence no carpet bombing of cities and very little of Russian soldiers shooting at groups of civilians who are unarmed and protesting them being there. Saw vids of the Russian soldiers retreating to advancing civilians.  The artillery or missiles at non military targets is a question though.  Most recent was where the Russ targeted a Mall, but in that mall area was Ukraine military vehicles. Like parked in the loading doc kind.

Maybe they are going to start a "win their hearts and minds" campaign.

Beat them up then provide food, shelter, and water.  Let them resist until they cannot resist anymore.  No more ammunition, no fuel for their tanks and planes.  Key leaders all dead or dying.

Maybe this is why Russia is so adamant about outside forces interfering with the conflict.

Attrition.
Sometimes you gotta know when to save your bullets.

"Putin mentioned the Ukraine people are Russian people"
The correct term is "Slavic" people.  Kiev used to be the capitol of what is now European Russia.
Stalin who was Georgian had no problem starving millions of Slavs( Holodomor).
Putin is a Slav.  Stalin is a Caucasian.
We tend to view the world through American lenses, we are only about 250 years
old, that pert of the world has been fighting for Eons.
My great grandfather was a soldier in the Imperial Russian army, yet he was a Polish Jew
and a practicing Catholic.
The more things change............

"the news" reported 15k Russian casualties.  Damn, that's quite a lot of true.  I would've thought more serious stuff would've broken out just out of spite. . .
