U.S. Olympic gold medalist and WNBA champion Brittney Griner could face up to five years in a Russian labor camp after she was arrested in the country last month, an expert said.

Griner, a 31-year-old Phoenix Mercury basketball star, has not been seen since she was arrested in Russia last month after Russian officials allegedly found vape cartridges in her luggage and accused her of attempting to smuggle drugs into the country.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it.

Oops.  Got my stories confused.

She didn't defect.  Just a victim of her own bad judgement -- for bringing something into a foreign country she should not have.

Cannabis or not, I question the judgement of any athlete who vapes, Olympic or otherwise.

And, if she was really carrying vape cartridges that contained cannabis oils, she took a huge risk and got caught.

I keep reading how Russia is possibly the culprit ... having a reputation for planting things is luggage in order to arrest travelers.  But, why her and ONLY her?  Why not several of her teammates, too?  Surely they weren't trying to disrupt their chances of winning.  One player can't be the only one capable of helping the team win.

There's no evidence anything was planted. 

FYI, I can read English.  Pidgin -- not without a translator and  a few Tylenol.   Reading it is 100 times harder than listening.
