Not saying it’s the NRA’s fault. What I’m saying is the NRA should show some concern and compassion for the victims and their families. If not cancel then at least postpone. Another reason I left is I always made it a point to donate to the ILA to the tune of $1000.00 per year for the last 15 years 7 of which were after I retired and really couldn’t afford it but it was for a great cause not for $3000 suits for Lapierre and not for a shit mouthed idiot known as W.K. Lee to tell me how f’d up I am to question the wisdom and direction the NRA is taking. No sir, not going to to stand for that BS! Instead I’ve funneled what used to be my yearly donation to Saint Jude’s.
No matter what I understand what you’re saying and appreciate your candor.
God bless!
I have an opposing opinion. The NRA should use this convention to hold discussions on how to help solve the problem of mass shootings in schools. Adopt a state to implement those solutions, such as firearm safety and tactical response training for school personnel willing to be armed, work with state and local lawmakers to allow those people to carry on campuses, and run regular drills in the schools to make sure everyone knows how to react.
Maybe they could take some of the money they raise and invest in schools to create entry points that trap shooters. The inner door only opens once the outer door shuts, and an armed resource officer controls that entrance. One entrance/exit -- all other doors locked and ALARMED to prevent a teacher from propping it open. Cameras throughout the hallways and around the perimeter would help, too.
One of the challenges is many schools are short of resources to increase security. So, the NRA could spend some time fund raising and working with companies to donate to these schools and make them safer.
Imagine the positive press if the next school shooting is prevented by technology and people funded and trained by the NRA. You couldn't buy that kind of publicity.
Why couldn't every school in the country use one of these?
https://hamiltonsecuritysolutions.com/solutions/entrance-security/entrance-security-vestibule.htmlMany buildings already have dual door entrances to keep the HVAC pressure in the building constant. Many jewelry stores have something similar to stop thieves. Seems like a no-brainer for school security.
As for exiting when school lets out, I remember in our elementary and middle school, we'd wait in the auditorium until the busses were at the school and parked. If a bus was late, those riders were told to remain inside until it arrived. Everyone else exited a single set of doors to ensure everyone who rode the bus made it safely and wasn't left behind.
This should not be rocket science. The main problem is nobody ever thinks it can happen at their school, so why spend the money and create all these procedures for something that will likely never happen?
