G43 with Shield Arms Z9 9-round mags.  and their steel mag catch, required due to steel-body mags.

* generic slide, probably Spinta.

Nice.

Have you tested/shot with the Shield mags? I've seen a lot of reports of malfunctioning with the 15 rd mags for the 43x.  Don't know if that was early generation ones, but reports were maybe 6-8 months ago.

Installed the Overwatch Precision trigger into my 43x last night.  Haven't shot it yet, and first impressions are crisper break than the stock trigger and reduced travel and creep, particularly in the reset.  The didn't test the pull weight, but not that much less than the stock trigger.  Still have the stock trigger in the 48 to compare to.  Don't typically have after marker triggers in my Glocks, not including my Gucci Glocks.  I've tested different connectors, like Ghost and ZEV, but none really impressed me that much.

Got holsters in for the 48 MOS, which fits the 43x just fine.  But not the other way around due to the rail for the light.  I have a holster on order for the 43x, which would have a slightly shorter holster body, but don't think that will be significant.

i did test, although not very scientific.  I just took one box of ammo, and put a full load through all the mags I had, they all function like they're supposed to, and then i was out of ammo..  only had operator error where my gloved thumb pushed up on the larger Vickers Tactical slide lock inadvertently.  need more practice with the little G43.  probably should select a couple of the mags at random, and put maybe 5-10 mag-fulls through them.  time and ammo.

I am tempted to get a G48 or a Shadow Systems pistol
I have a couple extra optics I could either sell or get pistols to mount them on
I have weak will power when I'm tempted by firearms  >:D

Gotcha.  I never owned a 43 before.  However, a friend's friend owned one a while back and let us shoot it.  He was having trouble with the slide stop.  Both not locking back on empty and locking back inadvertently.  I didn't notice, but I also only shot maybe 2-3 mags.  The videos i've seen for the Shield mags, including in training courses with MSP, Sage, etc have indicated some issues.  Might have been early iterations though.  Plus, no sense going with those for the 43x and 48 for 15 round capacity for Hawaii. . .  :(

For my 43x, I have the Vickers slide catch and really like it.  Have it on all my Glocks.  I tried the Vickers mag release, but hated it.  The OEM works a lot better.  Not sure if the release was defective.  I have another one to try for my 48.  The mags wouldn't eject with the same force, and very so often sort of just pop and not move if you didn't hit the release "just right".  Only thing I can think of is it was catching/rubbing on the release.

Do it!  If nothing more than to tempt CMO into getting one.  ;D

there was a nice Shadow Systems pistol at the gun show with Holosun optic and damascus slide
i think it was on that guy Abraham's table.  the Filipino guy without a shop but sells as a private dealer.  table was near the restroom on the snack bar end of the show
sale price was 1500.  sounds about right with the damascus slide and optic upgrades, but still on the expensive side for my wallet
maybe i'll look for a more budget Shadow systems pistol and add my own optic

Keeping up with the news, it appears that there might be a pistol qualification test for CCW.

Don't know the distance for the supposed qualification test, but I had a "shotgun" looking target at Kokohead shooting the P365 with open sights at 25 yards.

In this regard, I picked up a factory SIG slide with the Romeo RDS in case I need to qualify with the P365.

On sale, with the Romeo RDS.

Now I have the "basic" slim P365 grip module  AND the little wider Wilson Combat grip module with weighted tungsten rods.
Plus, the "basic" P365 slide with open sights AND the new SIG cut-out slide with Romeo RDS.
I can then mix-and-match the pieces............. ;)

I hesitated to go with the new SIG slide only (without the RDS), because then I would need a mounting plate and a new RDS,
which a new slide, new mounting plate, and new RDS would be more than the pistol cost!

The SIG RDS mounts directly to the slide, and no need mounting plate which makes it lower.

My Glock 48 jams at least once per magazine with the shield mags when I used them on the mainland, and that was with all 3 mags.  Though I was using the regular plastic mag release.  I didn't have time to test the metal one.

whether it's the metal or the plastic mag release, shouldn't make a difference in feeding reliability.  if you're using the OEM plastic mag release with the metal mags, the mag catch slot on the mag, the metal edge, it'll chew up the plastic mag release.  the mag catch will work, but eventually the plastic mag catch will fail.  nothing to do with feeding, though.  other than the mag slipping down, eventually.

and conversely, if you're using the metal mag release with the OEM-style plastic-covered mags, the metal mag release will chew up the plastic covering of the OEM mags.  it'll work, but it's a longevity thing.  eventually the ledge in the mag will be rounded off, chewed off.  mag might not seat at the right height for reliable feeding.

therefore, the metal mag release with metal mags.  and I guess, plastic mag release with plastic mags.

since the G43 mag release can be installed either LH or RH, I installed mine RH, and rounded, smoothed the lower sharp edge on the mag catch before installation, meh, it won't work if reversed and LH installed now, but I'm not LH either, so no biggie.  so if I ever had to use the plastic-coated mags, they ought to survive since no sharp metal edges to gouge out the plastic.  also makes for smoother, easier mag insertion.  In any event, regardless, I went all-in, and bought several of the Z9 mag 3-packs, lotta mags to test.  all my OEM mags went in a box.

i also replaced the mag release spring rod with a reduced power 2.5# spring (RYG), so that I could use the thumb knuckle to pop the mag release without changing my grip.  IMHO, the G43 OEM mag release spring was kinda stiff, required hand gymnastics to drop the mag. YMMV

She left handed?

Interesting to see how that Etsy holster works for you/her.  I associated Etsy with hobbiest, but I am sure you did a LOT of research and thinking about it. . .  ;D

Zippz and rpol - If any of you want a Vickers slide release for 43 or 43x/48, let me know.  I have two FDE/brown for the 43 and one black for the 43x/48 that you can have/try if you want.

She did all the "research". By research, I mean what looks cool.  TBH, her views are more toward looks pretty, vs mine as functionality.  She was looking at Tier1 Concealed, but no pretty holsters.  But in the end, Kydex is kydex and she will be fine with her etsy holster.

Whenever I get a holster, regardless of the brand, I do about 100 draws just to make sure the gun doesn't go click when inserting or drawing.  You can never be too careful.
