Going to apply for PTA later.  Got to fondle the Shield Plus.  The length of the grip actuallly isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I thought it would be like my M&P9C and the pinky totally hangs off. But the grip here about half the pink is on it without the flush fitting mag.  Also it comes with better sights than the 3 dot as advertised.  3 dot isnt too big of a deal, but night sights with orange front post is nice.  My only concern with the 3 dot is that the rear sight has no notch to rack on a belt (1 handed racking). This new sights do have a ledge, so problem avoided.

The 10rd flush mags fit 10 rds. Compared to my 9C that only fits 9, although it's supposed to be 10 (both flush and pinky extension ones).  I think I have 1 that fits 10, but it don't fit in a closed slide.  Not sure if this will fit on a closed slide or not. Gotta wait 2 weeks to find out.

Trigger is much better than the prior M&P "lever safety" triggers.  I do like how the Shield fits in my hands compared to the 9C.  Also got to fondle a G43X which was in the running.  Not a fan of the rear sight though, it has that U shaped white line.

Range report to follow.
Nice!  I like the original Shield.  Haven't tried the plus.  I volunteer to help you break in the new Shield  ;D

I was (not really seriously) thinking about a micro-Glock with RDS.  You can change the sights BTW. . .

You know how new guns work, it's a rule to let your friends try and owner supplies the ammo.

The sight thing on the G43X was a factor and even if I had to buy new Truglo or something, it would still come out cheaper than the 365X and only slightly more than the Shield.  My VP9 has a Trijicon night sight, which if I had to do it over again, I would go with Truglo due to the the huge price difference.

The trigger on the Plus is heavier than the VP9, I would say comparable to a CZ P10C.  It could be that my VP9 trigger feels lighter cause it's more broken in. Either way, better than the hinge/lever M&P trigger.

So if my CCW is issued, I'm gonna buy a Holosun 507K X2.  I like the smaller MOA dot, which will be good for HDF accuracy focused SB's.  The 407K has a 6 MOA.  And ROMEO Zero a 3 MOA, which I tried this weekend.

I ended up on Holosun due to the:

1) Price
2) Reliability (not plastic like the ROMEOZero)
3) Shake on and off

I will wait because I don't want to buy it and cannot CCW. So why invest more.  I could take this to Vegas, but I like my VP9 cause it has a WML on it, so it doubles as a nightstand gun as well.

Get it and use to train.  If you aren't shooting with a RDS now, recommend you start doing so if CCW with a RDS handgun is your desired end goal.

my list of carry options so far in order of what I think I will carry most often:

G19 with light and RDS - good do it all pistol, most likely will be my go to ccw
Sig P365 with external safety - if I want to pocket carry with 10 rounds of 9mm
Ruger LCR 38sp - if I want to pocket carry with 5 rounds of 38sp
Hellcat with RDS - micro compact with RDS
HK45 - 10 rounds of 45acp

on the G19 it's a 507c
on the Hellcat it's a Hex Wasp
I really like the Holosun optics.  I would have put one on the Hellcat, but I think only the Wasp and the Shield are able to mount directly to the slide and co-witness with the factory iron sights.  so I went with the Hex wasp

Since you don't own one yet, I'd recommend looking into the EPS Carry. It's a closed emitter type that shares the same footprint as the 407/507K line.

For me,

Really leaning towards my CZ P-01 (omega) just because I like how it feels when shooting, and I got the decocker model and really prefer decockers over safeties...

also considered Glock 43X (only if got the rail and MOS option), Sig P365 spectre comp (when it comes available), and/or compact 1911 (to carry 45acp)

really looking to setup my P-01 first though, I put $1000 a side to spend on upgrades and hope to stay in the budget

If they allow CCW then my P365.

Also was thinking of my Walther P22.

I have a holster for the P365 that can be converted to IWB or OWB.  I just recently got a pocket leather holster for it also.

Can any of you guys comment on an ankle holster for the P22?  Was considering one for it.

I was researching Glock 43 MOSs last night. . . saw that I think was one in stock on a LGS IG page. . .  8)

I tried it and the pinky hangs off. Problem can be solved with extended pinky mags. But you still fall short of a few rounds (not at 10rd max). IMO, I want the most rounds that I can legally carry (10).  I was looking  at the G43 cause the pinky thing isn't too big of an issue, but the loss of rounds is.  So the G43X solved this problem.

I'm sure someone makes a 10rd mag, but since it will stick out more might as well go G43X and no need buy base plates. Save $.

Glock 43's are difficult to shoot due to the thin and short grip compared to most other pistols.  There are 10 round magazines for it now.  I would recommend a a Glock 43x or 48 over it, unless you really need the smallest and lightest gun.

That's the main reason I still like my G26.  Standard 10rd double-stacked mags, giving the grip a more substantial purchase than the single stack subcompacts.

While there are potentially better guns of a similar size from other brands, there's still nothing wrong with the Glock 26.  Plus, it can use a G19 or G17 mag in a pinch.

I've shot the 42 and 43 quite a bit and I thought they were fine.  I was looking at the G43X (not the "regular" one).  Not REALLY seriously looking, but something I thought about trying.  Overall, I like the Shield better, but want the RDS capability.

I don't see myself going away from my G19 any time soon, but interested if there's something better.

Ya, X not the "plain".  I shot the original 43 quite a bit.  A buddy and his friends had 43s and they had malfunctions with them.  I shot a couple of them and was fine.  Was mostly on the bullseye range, and not training though.

I put in for my Kahr CM9.  It is tiny and it is something I know I can carry daily in any circumstance or clothing choice. However it has a rather limited 7 round capacity.  Probably have an extra mag in the pocket as well.  If we can get one permit for any handgun, I’d also rotate in my G48 for the extra rounds, if the outfit would accommodate the larger pistol.

I think a 16" AR would fit in a ukulele case. Might have to separate upper and lower
