Don't you love how they use phrases like:
"The surge with gun purchases represents a victory for groups
that have been advocating for easier access to firearms,
involving adults who can pass the FBI's National Instant Criminal
Background Check System."
I don't think "access" is the issue. it's the mine field of laws that encompass the purchasing, keeping, bearing and subsequent secondhand sales that need to be reduced.
"Access" is a trigger word for the Left, since they are pushing for laws that greatly restrict purchases of guns for everyone, even though they word it as "keeping guns out of the wrong hands."
I think "acquisition" is a better noun in that context. Access can be had simply by opening a locked box or safe in the owner's house. Acquisition is a single point of failure. If (when) the government (FBI, Mental Health agencies, etc.) drop the ball, it only takes that one time for the gun to wind up in "the wrong hands."
Access? Pffft!
