Shot show
« on: July 29, 2022, 04:20:05 PM »

They xray bags, not search by digging or opening. They do the same with ammo, mags, and parts.

Many casinos do this. So strap up and leave parts in the car if u checking bags until your room is ready.

We stayed there during shot and carried the entire time. This happened to me in december though. No guns in the bag, but ammo and 1 pistol mag.then asked if we have guns in the room.

I got my gun back after checking it in hours later when we left to go eat. Walked backed in ccwing and no issues the remaining 5 days. They dont use facial recognizing cameras for this.

I think i made a post about this. If not, lmk there are way more details to my story. Would be in dec 2021 or jan 2022.

There is NEW Technology being introduced that Video Camera Suppliers are pushing.

https://learn.evolvtechnology.com/demo-od?utm_term=weapons%20detection%20system&utm_campaign=Id_Google_Search_Isolated_Weapons_Detection&utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid-search&hsa_acc=8914273725&hsa_cam=17431172804&hsa_grp=137166669813&hsa_ad=602477955003&hsa_src=g&hsa_tgt=kwd-1658147809576&hsa_kw=weapons%20detection%20system&hsa_mt=b&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gclid=Cj0KCQjwio6XBhCMARIsAC0u9aFOlE5RDSqTFf6NY9DVC_2d4g70IO6LAacIFl5Dqe2mPi7KdEBzKXwaAq7NEALw_wcB

Like how the Airports here in Hawaii can read your temperature, these cameras and software can provide a GREAT probaility of doing analytics and tell them that you are potentially carrying

You will find more and more places are placing signs against firearms..  Thus that gives them the right to "check you out" ....so they say.....

Aloha!

I dont think I posted here about my XP. I was there in Dec prior to shot show.  And again during. But this happened in dec.

1) In the airport restroom, I change my pants to my CCW pants/belt and put only my IWB holster on.  As when on the plane, I'm in more comfortable basketball shorts.
2) Once in the car on the way to the hotel, I load mags and strap up.  I did the same for Mrs. CMO's gun.
3) I put the spare ammo and spare mag in our luggage and left it with the bell hop because our room wasn't ready yet.  I've done this many times precovid.
4) Once we get our room, Mrs. CMO called the bellhop and they said they need to speak to her husband. She asked what it's about and they wouldn't tell her.  I got on the line and they said to come down to get my bag because they xray'd it and it has firearm parts/ammo in it.
5) Took the very long walk to the armory while unarmed (left the pistol with mrs. CMO in the room). They don't allow parts or ammo in the rooms. So I had to check the 10rds of HP and 1 empty mag with them. The guy in charge laughed because he saw it was a 10rd blocked mag.  At this point, I was in the armory for 10 mins and no one asked if I had a gun too.
6) Then just as I was about to leave, 1 of the uniformed guards asked if I had a gun on me or in the room. I replied yes. So we (escorted) took the long walk back to the room and I gave them 1 pistol. They said they cannot handle the case it's in, so I have to walk back to the armory with them to check it in. Turn around time about 1 hour from my first walk down until I was back in my room.
7) In the armory, everything is in open cubbyholes. So there was a few pistol cases, 1 cubbyhole had a box of ammo. Another just a loaded mag. And a few pistols with slides locked back.  It isn't a big room either, like you're in arms reach of all of this. So 1 could easily take something and the 1 guard in this section wouldn't know as he is filling out your claim check (like a coat check ticket).
8) We left and I went back to the armory to get my gun. I was escorted to the front of the hotel waiting from Mrs. CMO to come with the car. The entire 10 mins I was waiting, I had 2 guards with me and they cannot leave me.
9) We went about the rest of our day and we went back and I never checked anything. Their facial scanners didn't recognize me because I was not asked the rest of the trip if I'm armed. I even crossed paths with a few of the guards who escorted me and they didn't say anything. 1 guy is from Ukraine, so I would like to ask him how his family is doing if I run into him again.
10) When we went again the next month (shot show), I made sure to leave any parts and ammo in the car. No issues. Also saw a few printing and no one bothered them. IMO, I think the guards look the other way cause the chandaler bar at the Venetian was the after show place to be.

I was told many hotels do xray. But not all bags. Guess our luck ran out.

On a side note, it is not illegal to carry in a hotel or anywhere that has a gun free zone sign (excluding obvious school zone, court house, secured part of the airport, etc...).

The only other time I checked my gun was at Planet Hollywood because we went to see the Backstreet Boys and they were wanding.  I went to PH's armory and the gal said I can keep my mag on me. I told her no, cause it's useless and left it with the gun. Then when I claimed my gun, she saw me load and make ready and said nothing.  She also said her husband is retired LEO and when they go to HI he carries. No one escorted us off property. We stayed about an hour and gambled.

Area 15 does wand as well. So we left our guns in the locked glove box in the car because they don't have an armory. This is legal to do in Vegas.

Forgot to add, when I spoke to the guy in charge, Shotshow did come up. He said they were bringing on 100 extra guards per day so people who check their guns don't have to wait for hours.

If I check my firearm, it's to verify there's a round in the chamber.

If/when there's another LV concert targeting a crowd, do you think the perp will choose a place that disarms its customers over a place that allows them to carry?

Mandalay Bay was an aberration.  It was an outdoor event being targeted from a long distance away from high elevation.  CC would have been ineffective.

Just putting that out there.  When you least expect it is when you'll need it the most.

Isn't that the place where you check-in to shoot at people in a gun-free zone?
I stay away from both places.

We went to Vegas like a month after the shooting. Only Wynn and MGM had noticeable changes. Wynn was wanding and bag checking at every entrance, but not for everyone. We were able to enter multiple times while CCWing.  Wynn also had more "contractor" looking security. Tan cargo pants and black polo shirt tucked in with a black jacket on. Their normal security wears joker purple blazers.

MGM had more K9 units. But these dogs dont smell 1 gun or ammo because we were standing very near a few and nothing. IMO, I think they're for drugs or bombs.

Other K9 units dont smell 1 gun either. Venetian/Palazzo have always had K9 which we walk pass often and even PH had 1. We were standing next to the  1 at PH and another guard bent down to pet the dog. The handler gave him scoldings and told him not to pet the dog.  Pretty funny.

Vegas also didn't pass a ban of bump stocks that year. So seems like they have reasonable lawmakers.
