FBI raid at Trump residence

3. FBI getting desperate to prevent Trump from running in 2024?

They couldn’t have been involved in a Trump witch-hunt before, right?

You mean like when they renewed the FISA warrant to spy on Trump and his people MULTIPLE TIMES as required, even though they (1) knew Steele was unreliable, (2) they found no corroborating information to support the dossier, and (3) the FBI's lawyer LIED to the FBI leadership about Carter Page -- saying he was not a CIA or NSA asset even though he knew that was false.

They made the SAME MISTAKE over and over, involving the FBI, the intelligence community and the FISA courts.  How much more evidence does anyone need to prove the FBI will do anything -- even break the law -- to achieve their objective?

I just heard a story that the FBI has been caught planning to steal millions of dollars of property and cash from people who rented safe deposit boxes from a private company.  Even though the signed warrant stipulated the agents would open the boxes, inventory the contents, and determine the ownership in order to return the property (the warrant was supposed to be against the company, not any potential crimes the customers may have been involved in), they went ahead and confiscated anyone's property valued at over $4,500.  Some customers had millions, if not multiple millions, in cash, gold and silver, and jewelry..  The theft was under the color of "civil asset forfeiture."

This is JUST ONE example of how corrupt the FBI is, and nothing should be assumed about their honesty, intelligence or willingness to violate the law and the US Constitution -- even though they've been caught in the past over and over again.

The FBI has a very tarnished reputation right now, I will give you that but there are two things that lend credence to the raid.
1. The director of the FBI, Christopher Wray, was appointed by Trump, not some democrat appointee just gunning for Trump.
2. I don't think the FBI is dumb enough to make the same mistake twice. They know this will be heavily scrutinized so I would bet they made sure their case was strong first.

And the new boss can replace him at any moment right? So would be in 1's best self interest to play ball with the new boss and fake news.

The FBI can mess up for ever cause the fake news got their backs.  Don't you know how our country works? Control the flow of info and you control the people.

This kind of thing did not end well for the Rosenburg’s [sic]

If there really are nuclear-weapons documents sitting in an unauthorized storage location, why would the FBI take over half a year to finally search for and seize them?  Trump's been out of the WH now for over a year and a half.  When did the FBI "get wind" these documents were at Mar-a-Lago?

Nope.  The whole "nuclear" BS is just that.  It's a ruse to gin up support for the fishing expedition.

The FBI waited 3 days AFTER the warrant was official before raiding the home.  Again, one would think there's more urgency when trying to secure this kind of information.

None of it passes any version of the "Sniff Test."  The whole thing smells of partisan games, just like the abuse of the impeachment process and FISA warrant system.

Now you're implying Trump should be executed for a crime he's not even charged with.

So much for due process and "innocent until PROVEN guilty," eh, Comrade?

Even if the documents they "say" they were looking for exist in the residence, Trump has a staff that boxed up, moved and stored those things for him.  You really believe Trump was toting heavy boxes of paper from a rented U-Haul into his home?

Granting you the most LIBERAL of circumstances and facts leaning toward "The FBI found classified material," there is NO WAY to prove intent to commit a crime -- the same element of the crimes Hillary was otherwise guilty of (even though "negligence" is part of the statute, so intent is irrelevant.)

The FBI created a precedence with the "Hillary Defense" -- she didn't mean to break the law.  It would be ironic to no end if that's the same defense that keeps the DOJ from prosecuting Trump!   :geekdanc:

So rather than maybe there being sufficient evidence to justify a search warrant you just assume the FBI director wants to keep his job?
It isn't that I trust the FBI all the way but I am not also going to do gymnastics to defend Trump either. The media didn't do a very good job at covering for the FBI when it was discovered they abused the FISA warrant system
This just requires a little bit of patients and a little less speculating.

But what is the alternative, should the FBI do nothing regardless of the evidence? Imagine there was a very honest agent who had very credible information that Trump had committed a crime or other legal violation. Should he not pursue it just because agents in the past abused their authority?

Who knows, maybe Trump planned this whole thing. Seeded information that he had classified documents just so the FBI would raid his home and then he could turn it into a PR stunt to get more money from his supporters.... 4D chess right?

Duh! You think you can provide nothing and get a warrant like this?

In all fairness the FISA court seemed to be trying to wash its hands of the shared blame for that debacle.
The first warrant was justified but after that the FBI got greedy and the courts got lazy.
