Why not go to a real range like KHSC and not some little room designed for handguns?  No one will laugh at you.

I cannot stand the idea of shooting in an indoor range unless I had to with to with a pistol.

OP - Why are you looking to shoot at an indoor range?  Where CS is important?  If you have the gun, ammo, eyes, ears, etc, it doesn't much to shoot at Koko Head. 

Are you looking for CS to include ammo?  Basic firearms safety?  For help with basic safety, there's plenty of opportunity for help with that. 

Not sure all of the ranges you mentioned allow you to shoot your personal firearms.  I think "gunclubs" like SWAT or whatever they have in Waikiki now are where you pay to shoot firearms provided.  It has been 10+ years since I went, but I think those ranges are still around.

I see. I guess the main reason I wanted an indoor range is cus I don’t want to buy/have the equipment to set up my own targets. I remember checking at an outdoor range’s website before and they said you needed a frame to set up your targets  etc. lots if good info here though. Thx.

If you have rudimentary wood working skills (sawing, nailing, drilling, measuring) you can whip up a frame in minutes.

I made one with 1x2 wood and thumbscrews to collapse the thing to transport.   Not rocket science.

Frame only has to be 1 by 2 feet? I was worried it had to be big and I wouldn’t be able to fit it in my car. I got a camry.

No, what he meant was he built it out of 1X2 wood which is the size of the wood itself.  (like 2 by 4).  But he uses thumbscrew fittings instead of nails and screws so you can collapse it.

Building it this way will fit in almost any trunk or backseat of a vehicle.

If you google KHSC target frames it will show the dimensions and type of lumber you can purchase at City Mill, etc.  Or you might find you have the materials at home already.

Both HRA and HDF have open shoots with targets provided at KHSC. HDF is last Saturday of the month in the morning and HRA is the second and last Sunday of the month in the afternoon. Bay 1.

Young guns, sechawaii and Prime Sports have rifle and pistol target stands.  Just go home depot or lowes and get some wing nuts to break the frames down if they dont already come with them.

Prime Sports had the shorter target stands. Idk if he has it in stock still tho.

I bought my Kokohead rifle target frames from Young Guns, has screws and wing nuts to collapse the legs.  that was probably over 5 yrs ago, so ....

ETA: they did fit sideways across the back seat floor area of a Toyota Camry, easily.

Only trick it to get the leg spacing to fit the KHSC pipes in the ground (dunno if they still do it that way) and loosen the nuts to alter the spacing.

Of course, built mine 16 years ago, no idea if the ground fixtures are the same.

Meantime, i made some PVC legs to stick the uprights into for use at the Manuka dump.  Works for me.

Commercial ranges will cost you an extra $50-$75 each session with range fees, higher cost ammo, targets, etc.  Buy a $30 frame from the gun store and $150 set of binos and go to Koko Head and you're already ahead after 3 range sessions.  And you can shoot farther.

I was at YG today and they had a bunch. Seemed thinner and lighter than previous versions, but same reversible leg configuration.

If you have a sedan, the rifle frames at SEC prob won’t fit in your trunk. They are quite tall.

1  - 8 foot 2x2
1  - 8 foot 1x4

= 1 four foot high target stand.

Just make sure target is toward the top rail so they don’t gig you on target too low.
It’s super easy and cheap.

Or measure the back seat of the Camry and that’s how tall you can make it.
