Obama Assault Weapon Ban?
« on: November 06, 2012, 08:44:01 PM »
Now that Obama is re-elected, and If the Assault Weapon Ban does go into effect, what happens to the firearms we already posses that are considered an Assault Weapon, do we have to surrender our firearms?  or does it only apply to sales of that type of firearms after the ban goes into effect?  ???

Won't happen.  But, do patronize your local gun shop and buy as many lowers as you can.

It was Bush the Younger who called the Constitution "just a dammed piece of paper".  The only gun law that Obama has signed was the one legalizing concealed carry in the National Parks.

How many of you guys have lost your life savings to Nigerian scammers?  'Cause there's a bunch of folks who seem to have a hard time vetting information they get from the internet.....

what happens?  if it ever gopes through, the same thing that happened in 1994.

no one will have to surrender their guns.  they just cant buy new manufacture.  you can still buy old manufacture too.

Elimination of grandfathering is what scares me most.  I bought a couple AR's to build for certain people.  If they eliminate grandfathering, they'll never be able to own it  :(

like i said, i cant see it passing, the senate has enough republicans in it to effectively filibuster any bill they want, and its not like EVERY democrat would back such a bill.  and in the house, the republicans hold a majority.  so there just arent the numbers necessary to pass this.

but this shouldnt be coming up, period.  that old hag needs to retire.

+1

The Democrats were handed a victory but not some clear mandate. The reason gun sales have spiked - even among liberals - is partly because the people are concerned for their safety and freedom. Those very same people (and their elected representatives) aren't all that interested in having the freshly purchased firearms taken away.

Feinstein is trying to capitalize on a mandate that isn't real. This bill will fail. I'd be surprised if it even gets past committee.

Elimination of grandfathering is the obvious next step, because as long as ak's and black rifles are around people can learn that they aren't inherently more dangerous that any other guns on the market. Take away the ability to show people firsthand and it's much easier to demonize them. All the same it's too risky for me to justify spending on a platform that might get taken away. Would rather put the cash towards less politically vulnerable ammo and accessories. Besides, everybody else is doing their part stocking up and driving prices through the roof so there's no reason to join the herd just now.

Wouldn't that be illegal? To confiscate private property?

It also used to be illegal to spy without a warrant, indefinitely detain, assassinate people.

It's possible to confiscate and pay fair market value.   But to turn and destroy would not fly.

Paranoia. Gotta love it, leads to great gun sales  and cheap prices for consignments on impulse purchases.

If you believe that Obama is going to ban guns you better prepare for the end of the world in December when the myan calendar ends.
