This is interesting, but I think for once the city managers did it right.

The cooling system is kind of a big deal in HI this time of year.  If there's a leak in that system, is it able to cool the bus interior/passengers?  How much would it cost to keep replacing the refrigerant so it can continue to operate?

I didn't read anything that said it's related to the fact it's electric-powered.  Seems incidental to the story itself.

If they can continue to operate the bus system with other busses until these 17 are inspected and repaired, it's probably smart to avoid letting the A/C run "dry" of coolant, which might causing more problems with the A/C -- not to mention the discomfort for riders.

There might b e more to the story, but their approach seems more reasonable than not given they have enough busses to not impact riders.

Wait!? i thought Hawaii was going to lead the "charge" in being totally sufficient on EV crap.

Boy I really can't wait until the entire state is all electric and no fossil fuels shipped in. It'll be just like 1835 all over again.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy.

What's that got to do with the story?  Did I miss something?

They basically made a fleet of rolling bombs

Stop blaming lazy people. We didn’t do anything.

To add on: for some odd reason I get alot of suggestions on youtube on these EV buses exploding. Mustve seen atleast 5 or 6 diff ones. Iirc most was in china. Could be just their parts/ manufacturing processes. Idk if their DOT rules and regulations are as strict as America .

No miss.

Just angry day and how our wonderful leaders always do so much to help us. Please stop helping me.

I assumed the "potential leaks in the cooling system" applied to the A/C, not anything to do with the fact it's powered electrically.  I did some research (all of about 45 seconds), and I was mistaken.

The recall involves the cooling system for the bus' batteries, which is:
Quote
critical to maintaining the safety and stability of the batteries and the bus. Excessive temperatures
will negatively impact the battery and its performance in electric buses. The parts that may be affected
include its electrochemical system, power output, safety and service life, the driving distance of the
bus, etc. In the long run, it raises the cost of maintenance and replacement.

I guess that's one of those little factual details that isn't worth including in today's news stories.  Gotta fact-check everything nowadays!

Given this new information, I'd say it's appropriate to blame EV technology being behind where it needs to be.

Carry on!    :shaka: :geekdanc:

Assuming its this. I dunno about riding a bus that could catch fire from a short in the battery. Those Tesla fires burn insane.

The stupid thing is we have a Governor who is an EE who just passed all this ridiculous green electric BS. He should have been the first critic of these damn stupid proposals.

Perhaps he's creating a perpetual engineering revenue stream?  The more problems he make part of the official solutions, the more money engineers get to fix them.

Seems like it might be a conflict of interest, assuming he's a better engineer than he is governor.
