How's the line at HPD?

I've found the best option is to ask someone in line to hold your place. For people who drop coins...The new meters are a big scam because they reset when the car moves.  If you have time left, you're giving away money to the city.

Even before the mad rush on guns, the hours between 10am-2pm were always the worst.
Gah. I didn't know the meters reset after the car moves. That's a bunch of BS.

Yeah, I try to avoid from around 11 am until around 2 pm. Seems like people were going on a lunch break.

I don't think IT will end.  That is why, I'm going to wait until, I take my staycation, before I buy anything else.  Then I won't have to worry, about rushing back to work.

Went this week Tuesday.  Forking 2 hours in line.  Parked on King Street.  Just made it out be the skin of my teef.  Popo was one car away from me with his lights on.  Poor bastage in back of me was probably getting a ticket and getting towed.

Really that line was insane.  To me it really only moved in the last hour of the day.  It's like watching Kikaida.  The LEO's busted out their "The End" move at the end.  If they busted out "The End" at the beginning the line wouldn't be so crazy.

............Is someone pulling manpower from them?  Why so friggen long?!!

My friend said he's been turned away once or twice when he went at 3 PM by "an officer."  Any of you hear of this?

Yup, a guy in line behind me said the same thing happened to him the day before.

Story from KHON:

www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/20223656/long-lines-for-gun-buyers

Would be great if people could register firearms at other police stations but I doubt they would do anything to make it easier for gun owners in Hawaii.

Yes.  At a certain time a Sgt came out and said if you are registering, you probably won't get in.  That was to the people standing outside of the door...............now mind you I'm talking the door to HPD, not the interior door to the registration room itself.  He said it's unlikely you'll be served, but if you want to take a chance, then so be it.  He also said that after a later time........no registrations period, I want to say that was about 3:30.

They did make efforts which I applaud.  They did also help guys in line just trying to pick up their permits.

What would be really nice is if they handed out the forms to the people in line for them to fill out.  This would streamline the process more.

Yeah they could have blank forms, and then put the serial numbers in after it.

What I don't understand is, why can't we just pick up forms, or print them out online?  Then, we can fill them out, at our leisure, and turn them in, when we are done.  The registration room is so small, there is no space to sit down, to fill these forms out.  This is beyond insanity.

All great suggestions that make sense and would speed up the process and make it to easy for gun owners in Hawaii to have access to readily available firearms.

The powers that be are not 2A friendly.  It is against their best interests to be efficient.  Just think if there was a requirement to process X people/hr................or for other branches of the Govt.

Actually the problem is in the State laws  about firearms and registration.

I'm wondering How many people wanting to register/buy guns are HRA members.

How many are willing to bug their legislators about Changing the law and it's requirements.

Bet if HRA had 10,000 dues paying members and 500 came out to PICKET like we did in the 90s

the legislators will pay attention.

Membership in HRA and paid up Dues means a bigger better PAC to lobby the legislature in January.

If only 30/40 people turn out to Public gun hearings, don't expect changes.

If 100+ turn out to testify and jam up their hearings, they'll be Forced to pay attention.

Find the worst Anti 2A  legislator and Picket his fundraisers, that'll get news coverage.

Get your Wife out Picketting, the news cameras will pay attention.

Wife made KHON 2 news in her Mamo Howell muu muu, she got inerviewed.

Buy her a nice dinner afterwards,  I did.

You also NEED to have a copy of:  Hawaii Directory of Elected Officials 2013.

Should be out by end of December, before start of legislature.

Lists EVERY official in County and State government with their phone number and Fax number.

Get at least 3 copies.  One for home, one for work and one just in case.

Grumbling here will get you no place, go grumble at the legislators.

BTW, make sure that you are a Registered voter when you call, they will check.  None voters get no attention.

Be Nice and Polite and they will listen.  Otherwise the staff will cut you off.
