Aloha everyone.  Applied for my permit to acquire a week or so ago.  When I go to pick up the permit at HPD next week, is there a separate line for permit pick-up only?  Or are applications, permit issue, and firearm registration all the same line?
Much mahalos for the info!
all the same unfortunately

I'm not sure if anyone else remembers. But I do remember that they were taking a survey a few years ago about filling out the paper work on-line and submitting it. Maybe someone remembers this better than I do.

Maybe, Just Maybe things may change if a bunch of you started handing out fliers on the Sidewalk in front of HPD

Demanding a Change in the way they do business and you get on ALL the TV news, including National news

Maybe affecting their "good guy" image they may change.

Also, I recall that somewhere in the City rule n regs, those forms are "supposed" to be availible at the City Clerks Office

Just as the CCW info, Rules and Tests were supposed to be.

Of course things may have changed since I last looked.

sad that it reminds of the soup nazi on seinfeld.
we just gotta take what they dish out bc theres nothing we can do about it.
where else we gonna go?

but I would support any effort to improve the system.

I happened to be passing HPD this morning at about 10:30 AM. The line was past the metal detectors. There were men, women and even small children in strollers waiting in line!!!

Should start tailgating already!

Ill probably have to be in line with my twin girls and stroller next week too it seems. No way i could get there by late afternoon after my wife gets off work by the length of the lines,..  Wonder if the line will ever shorten?,.....

Perhaps our new Mayor will be able to help after he is innaugurated next month.
Remember he sold himself as the Gun Guy's best friend.
Seems he had a fair amount of our support. See Our forum on and around Sept.19.
Let's contact him and see if he was sincere?

Aloha

Latest HRA has him in a photo op with the HRA.......some of who are members here.  Hopefully the Mayor will get some momentum going on the 2A front.

I got some questions for our "old timers" here...

is the long lines at HPD just a "trend" because of obama's re-election?

was it like this back in 2008 also when he first got elected?

do gun sales often spike up around election times?

or do you think more and more people could be possibly gearing up for doomsday?  ;)

did the pre-AWB in '94 cause a surge in sales as well? how about when the AWB expired in '04? did gun sales (and long lines at HPD) go up then?

i'm just trying to determine if this is a normal occurrence and if gun sales and long lines at the firearms division often fluctuate.

sales will fluctuate with the political climate and a host of other outside influences. All I know is for the last year I never had to spend more than 45 minutes inside hpd and several times there was no line at all.

I'm sure President Obama Calling to Renew the Assault Weapons Ban during the debates has something to do with it.

Yeah i figured. When i registered mine in early october there was only like 5 guys ahead of me in line. Maybe i'll wait till the hype dies down before i make another purchase.

Saw the line by the metal detectors again this morning a little after 8am. I need to renew my long-gun permit soon, I'll probably go in the afternoon.

@rendog, the line is usually longer in the mornings when people try to get it done before work and at the beginning of the week with everyone registering weekend purchases.

Got in line at 2:04, was out the door at 3:29.  Met a first time firearms owner. He bought a Beretta 9mm two weeks ago and picked up an AR this morning. Registering both this afternoon.
God, guns, and guts made America. Let's keep all three!

We are going to try and get the city council to require HPD to do firearms registrations at all police stations. There is currently a petition being circulated to gather signatures to present to the City Council. It is available at the HRA website and the LIFE website.
