Dang.. I gotta go and apply for a new LG permit. Purchased a new rifle this past Saturday. Goin probably Wednesday to renew. The thing is the earliest I can get there is at 8.Then I gotta look for parking. Any of you have any other place can park if the metered ones are taken? This the humbug part...lol

On Beretania, the metered spaces in front of the station are not available until 8:30AM.  I've had good luck getting there about 8:28-ish and getting a metered space right in front.  Don't leave the car until 8:30 when rush hour ends, just in case a cop wants to check what time you have.  :shake:

There's an HPD parking garage right next to the station.  You have to enter from the street behind the station.  There is a row of meters in that garage for visitors right next to the elevator that takes you street level.

Then there's the big municipal garage one block down Beretania past the station.  If I drive by the front of the station, and all those street parking spaces are full, I just go through the next traffic light and turn left into that lot.  Lots of parking there.

Both parking garage's meters take cash and credit.  The street parking only takes coins unless they've changed them since I was there last.

I always take a picture of the meter after I feed it.  That records when I parked (timestamp on photo) and how much time I paid for.  Makes it easier to keep track of when I need to feed the meter again if the line is slow.

Actually, HPD takes credit cards now, so no problem if you don't have exact change for the fee if you have a card.

Not too bad today but did get a little crowded by the time I left...

Got there around 0915, plenty of parking, only two ahead of me registering. Made it to the window by 0930, registered three out of state rifles in about 10 minutes, then another 20 minutes to work through the RAPBACK nonsense. May be 30min total time involved this time, probably faster if you're already in the worthless RAPBACK system.

Started to get a little busy when I left, eight to ten folks on line at that point.

Got in just before 11:00 to register a long gun.  Only 2 ahead of me at the time and both got done quickly.  Registration went by fast and was out in 1/2 with 4 in line after that.  Have a great weekend everyone!

i swear to god, hpd can be pricks.  I went to renew my longarm permit, and they told me they were closed at 2:45 (not 3:00PM).  it was 2:47 and I already had the paperwork mostly filled out when I showed up and there's no line

Fuck HPD.  Every other county office opens until 430.  they purposefully have shit hours to make it more difficult for people, and they can't even abide by their own shitty hours.

I got there on a Friday at 2:30 once, and the inner door was already closed with the lights off.  The hours posted next to the door plainly stated they close at 3:00.

Are they verified as closed tomorrow?  My permit isn’t going to pick itself up.

That infringes on my 2nd amendment right.  I should be able to buy a gun during a hurricane.
