just went this evening (wednesday), to apply for handgun PTA.  Thank you HIFICO for the late hours.

had 2 people inside being processed at the window counter, no line outside.  wow!
officer stuck his head out the door, and asked me what i was there for, whether I had forms filled out, etc.

I guess the firearms application/questionaire did change.  The revised form now has a supplemental questionaire, if you answer "yes" to question #12, ".... mental conditions..disorders.." then 4 more pages, otherwise delete.  Also advised that even though the essay page, p. 5 is empty (unless you got problems), should still be included in the packet, since the pages are numbered, don't want to raise questions about the missing page.

took me about 15-20 minutes.  when I left, the 2 people at the window were still there.  I heard the words "is this your first time.." a few times.

Parked around 1115. Had maybe 4-5 stalls open. No line for registration, with one person at the window. No outside line at PTA. Had to wait maybe 5 mins. Paperwork and everything done in maybe 10 mins.

So what was the purpose of being there? Pic or didn't happen...

I may or may not have seen someone in the background of a "star wars" video...

went today, Tuesday-after-a-Monday holiday, during lunch time, got there about 11:15, had about 6 folks in line outside the door.  took about 1/2 hr to get to the door.  Was there to apply for PTA.  Once inside, since I had pre-filled out the on-line forms, it went pretty quickly.  I did show them my current long-gun permit to help speed up the process.

when I left, there was only 1 person in line outside the door.

I did overhear them tell one guy who was asking about renewing his long-gun permit, that the new one will only be good through December this year, yeah, new rules effective Jan 1st, 2024.  My Hunter's Ed card is over 20 yrs old, shucks.  ... End of an era.   :(

Maybe time to sue the PTA, as well as LTC, schemes as UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Asked about this today when I went. The guy at the PTA window told me it’s still good for one year when you renew. Not the end of the year.

Renewed long gun permit and picked up pistol permit.  Arrived around 0800, was done by 0815.  Most of the time spent on filling out the long gun permit (one with multiple sheets).

One person at the permit counter.  One person waiting on the registration side, but no one at the window, so that was super quick.

Got there at 1500 I'm 3rd in line
Takes me 1 hour to get out of there. Wow. Just made it
There's a new form to fill out. The PTA app. It's the same questions but on more pieces of paper. Just put out today. So expect delays bc the new form is not available online

went to get a PTA, the line was moving at about 1 applicant per 30 minutes.  Only 1 window/officer working, 3 or 4 others visible in background but not working up front.  When I asked about it I was informed that all but one officer was assigned to work on clearing the CCW paperwork backlog, hence the snail's pace on PTAs.  Since I had my forms completed ahead of time I was out in 8-10 minutes but one newbie ahead of me took 40 minutes to do his paperwork.

So, at least for the near future if you see that only 1 window is open, figure on 30+ minutes per person in line.  When I left there were 5/6 people in line, I figured the last person was in for a 2.5 to 3 hour wait.

FYSA - firearms section has been reduced in force, so everything is taking A LONG TIME.  anticipate long lines and wait times to exercise your RIGHTS........

As of today, the left side is CCW only. The right side is now permit application, permit pickup, and registration. Be prepared for longer waits again.

Still waiting 3.5 weeks since I registered a long gun online. And before that, it took 3 weeks for another long gun registration to be sent back.

Is 3+ weeks the new standard?

My daughter just went to renew her permit and said everything is on the registration side except CCW apps. I didn’t tell her ahead of time.
CCW side empty. Line and wait time on the everything else side was stupid. And she had pre-filled out forms.
She walked in, walked up to the window all stoked it was empty, presented her paperwork, and was told other side.
4 cops, admin, can’t accept paperwork that will take two weeks to process anyway.
And apparently can’t hand you one for pick up.

This is a blatant FU to the firearms community for CCW.

Yup, found out today about the consolidation.  Took all of the fun out of finding a deal at the lgs.  One old lady took forever at the counter to fill out each form, asking questions (that part was ok, if you don't know you don't know) but what started to burn was when she started making small talk and the officer did nothing to speed things along.

It got so bad that I advised everyone in the room that if they were waiting to apply they should fill out the paperwork ahead of time.  One guy sorta told me it was none of my business what he was waiting to do, so after waiting about a half hour he was officially informed that he had to go to the OTHER side to sign a form and I had to laugh.

After that, one of the clerks (not p.d.) came out and started processing people who were waiting to pick up permits.  That sped up things quite a bit and I ended up waiting only 1.5 hours altogether.

To rub some salt, street parking in front of PD is closed off for now.  Plastic bags over all 4 curbside meters.

Have a nice day!

10:30 a.m.--line is to the door at the registration side, anticipate a 3-4 hour wait.

Was like that on this past Wednesday too. I went at 12:30, line was to the door, but an officer came out from the records side and asked if anyone was there to pick up permits and a free of us were serviced that way.  I was out in 30 minutes.
