I found out today that there are at least five places on the Big Island to do gun paperwork:  Hilo, Kona, Waimea, Pahoa, and Kau.

That's about what I saw.  I drove past at about 6 am and it was the least that I've seen in a while.  Mostly guys sitting on the two benches outside the door and a few standing around by the area where the metal detector is.  It's the least that I've seen in a while.

I got there around 9:30 and out the door by 11:00, line was to the scanner.... Only had one officer at the window but when I got there another one came out to help. No officer came out to ask for permit pickups while I was in line.

Maybe half the line had firearms to register.

Did have one guy registering what looked like a cannon.... I mean it was a 5 ft long barrel and must have been heavy cause the guy had a hard time carrying it...

Well good luck guys, the rain hasn't stopped people from standing in line.

Got there are 7:45 a.m. today and there were 15 people in front of me. My wait started a little outside the double glass doors.

While I was near the actual registration/permit door, an officer came out and asked those in line who was picking up permits and five people who were behind me raised their hands. A few minutes later, the officer produced and issued the permits to the five and they were on their merry way. I was done registering and left at 8:50 a.m. An hour and five minutes is not too bad but I sure miss the 30 minutes or less pace in the past.

Drove by around 5:45 am and saw about 4-5 people sitting outside on the benches.  The least number of people waiting that I've seen since middle of last December.  Hopefully things get back to 30 minutes and about an hour when really busy.

was there at 11:55am and it took me only 30 mins to get to the front of the line (about 6 people infront of me).  Then after 5 mins there were like 11 people behind me.

I saw a camera shot on kgmb news this morning reporting on a elderly man that got hit by a HPD car (personal car with blue light on top)

anyways, could see the entrance from the camera angle and looked like had a few people sitting on the bench at 0700
but not too much as far as i could see.

I passed by around 5:50 am and saw about 5 people sitting on the benches outside the double doors.  I'm hoping that soon there won't be anyone waiting outside before they open.  I'm planning on picking up a couple of handguns once my tax return comes in.
