were her "guns" concealed or open carried?
you should've asked her if they are registered

I wanted to show her my other gun. I don't think she woulda been interested in a snubby tho.

Got there @ 1:15 pm, line to the metal detector. gotta love the gun shows !

Got everything taken care of by 3:30pm. The line just didn't seem to move, took me well over an hour to get inside the double doors. I would like to think that the show rush has subsided and wait times should be back to what it was a week ago.

From the linked article

"Firearm registration activity increased dramatically over the course of the 13 years for which these data have been systematically compiled and reported. From 2000 through 2012, the number of statewide permit applications processed annually climbed 336.9 percent, the number of firearms registered soared 370.1%, and the number of firearms imported surged 325.8 percent. Roughly equivalent increases were reported for all four of Hawaii's counties.

While there has been a tremendous increase in firearm registration activity in Hawaii since 2000, the annual trends for both the number of firearm-related violent crimes and the proportion of violent crimes involving firearms relative to other weapon types remained stable within a low and narrow range through 2007, and decreased substantially from 2008 through 2012, during which time registration activity increased the most sharply. "

What? Crimes decreased substantially from 2008-2012? I don't believe it! I thought more Guns = more Crime?
I'm so confused now.

3/21/13 - Arrived at ~7:00am, ~15 people ahead of me.  Picked up my permit and left at ~9:00am.  At no time did anyone come out calling for permit pickups.
3/21/13 - Arrived back at ~10:00am, line was outside the door to the security check in.  Registered my rifle and left at ~12:00pm.  Again at no time were permit pickups called.

how come sometimes they ask for permit pickups and other times they don't???

why don't they just mail the permits to address on app?

Was the last one again today :)   Arrived little after 3, about 6 ahead outside the outside door but in due time we all got in and registered.  They did sweep the line once querying for permit pickups only.

Actually they let one more do paperwork after the door was closed and everyone else gone - so kudos to HPD working the window, they coulda' sent him away but took him in.

I even got free parking a block away.  A berry berry good day indeed :D

I wish I knew. I had to wait two hours to pick up a permit last week and the prior trip to apply for said permit they didn't come out once to ask during the 2-3 hours I was there.

why don't they just mail the permits to address on app?
Postage costs money. Not to mention doing so would remove a hurdle, one that discourages many from purchasing firearms.

...And why would HPD want to make it easier for good citizens to get guns?   >:(
Because they work for us taxpayers? Oh, sorry I am living in fantasy land again!

Drove by around 6 am and saw a bunch of people hanging around outside the double doors.  They were spread all over, so tough to see how many, but I could guess at least 15 people.  Seems like Fridays are consistently the longest lines.  Too bad that's the best day for me to go.

maybe theres an express line now.

Since people are now literally at the length of the entire entrance, I hope one of the first acts is to cull the people picking up permits. Which I doubt they will do. lol

That's a good idea about mailing permits. Applicants can bring a self-addressed stamped envelope when they first apply and ask that their approved application be mailed via your SASE.

The second new idea is the "take a ticket" system with the red plastic dispenser. I like it and it makes sense.

But then again, why would the powers want to make it easier for us law abiding citizens to get guns anyway?
