from the people around me, it seems like a "normal" mix.
- i was renewing my long gun permit
- friend was applying for handgun permit and renewing long gun permit.
- guy behind me was registering a long gun from out of state
- many of the people had new rifle boxes and pistol boxes so I would assume newly purchased stuff.  i guess this made up the majority.

Stopped by SEC and picked up a NAA Black Widow and a Ruger LC9. Oh and some 22lr ammo.
See u guys there in 2 weeks...

Damn teammidori.  It seems that you've been buying guns everyday.  You're always in line. ;D  My long gun permit just expired. Will have to stand in line pretty soon.

Did you guys see the letter to the editor in the Star Advertiser today from HPD on the lines?  They acknowledged the issue and have plans to do part of the registration online!!!!!!!

I don't pay attention to local politics but I'm starting to really like our new mayor!  He's getting my vote and maybe some dough too.

Does Mayor Caldwell shoot?

HPD addressing long lines issue

The number of people applying for permits and registering firearms has increased significantly in recent years, and the Honolulu Police Department is doing its best to keep up.

We have added additional staff and taken other measures to shorten the wait. In the future we hope to automate much of the registration process.

The permit and registration line is occasionally long, typically on Mondays or on Tuesdays following a long weekend, and we ask for the public's patience during these times.Hawaii has strict firearms laws, and ensuring compliance with these laws is a serious responsibility.

Dave Kajihiro
Deputy chief, Honolulu Police Department

ahhh you bought the NAA Black Widow from sec, I saw it and if i already didn't have my naa mini combo, I would have picked that one up.  nice gun.

either way, so the line is on average 1.5 hours and its not because of the gun show?  just before the gun show it seems like the line was dying down.  is there still panic buying???

9 people at the door at 9:50. It's moving fast too
Gun control means using both hands.
