4/9/13 - Arrived at ~6:50am, ~14 people ahead of me.  Picked up my permit, registered a rifle, and left at ~8:45am.  At no time did anyone come out calling for permit pickups.
4/9/13 - Arrived back at ~11:00am, line was outside the double door to the ATM machine.  Registered my pistol and left at ~12:45pm.  Again at no time were permit pickups called.

Looks like they simply don't want to make it easier for us to purchase guns. Pretty clear since it's been four months and not much has been done to improve the permit/registration process. Oh well, I guess the recent editorial by HPD was just shibai.

At 10:35 and 12:45 they called for permit pickup when I was there.

Oh, they've done something.  They now lock the door at 3pm.  They have effectively cut the hours.   Welcome to bizarro world.

I just wanna say it literaly took 35 min to type up the registration  paper for 2 of us waiting. I think i herd them call once for permit pick up at around 10ish since they opened.

Image if that pre-registration information form was available at your local gun store to complete and have the store fax it for you to HPD. The store has to fax info about the purchase so adding another piece of paper won't hurt. Once HPD receives it, they can begin typing the carbon registration. When you go to HPD, the typed carbon registration will be done and you sign it after HPD checks the firearm. This would save lots of time.

Wow i guess today was a good day, I got there at 9:15am, they called for permit pick up at around 9:45am also; only me and another guy in line were picking up, total wait is about 30min

My buddy just texted me, he got dropped off at 9am and was third from the glass doors. Sounds like today might be a good day to go.

NICE!  I gotta go tomorrow for permit pickup/reg!  Hopefully it's all good!

Drove by this morning around 5:40 am and there were only 2-3 guys waiting outside.  Hopefully things are settling back to some level of sanity. 

Out at 10:30. Not bad.

Here at 1030. 8th in line. Sweet.
