The containers with mostly 9mm ammo were in 3 NC cities:  Raleigh, Durham and Wilmington.

ATF officials warn NC gun owners to lookout for stolen ammo
Quote
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — ATF officials are warning gun owners in North Carolina to be on the
lookout for stolen ammo that was taken from shipping containers in Raleigh, Durham and Wilmington.

“We got an email from the ATF this time, and it was basic information, just that there was Winchester 9 mm,
and an abundant amount of it, that was stolen,” David Baalbergen, a manager at Tar River Arms, said.

Details remain limited on how exactly the ammo was stolen, including the exact day and time it was taken,
but investigators are looking for a car they say was involved in the theft.

All theft is bad.
The last thing I'll talk to is the government
about it.

Alphabet agencies worried about their massive stash disappearing?

They get nervous when they are not the only ones well armed?

what is encroached ammo?

By denying the feds their ammo, you are encroaching on their ability to blow you away when the mood strikes them?

Well, I guess Ukraine can suck wind.  They're not getting any 9MM ammo anytime soon. ;)

ATF can suck wind too.  Nobody is gonna share any info with them.  Their credibility and respectability with the public is nada.

My guess would be the encroachment of this stolen ammo into the consumer market alongside with the regular retail outlets.  Guys selling the ammo from the trunks of their cars or at ranges, etc.

I see no where it says ammo was for ATF. ???
More likely was ammo shipment destined to distributors/gun stores

More likely was ammo shipment destined to distributors/gun stores stolen BY ATF  ::)

This wouldn't surprise me at all.  The deep state is so deep even the peons and mid-level employees at the ATF would be clueless.

The obvious questions were not even asked in the reports, much less answered,

Such as, how do 3 -- not 1, not 2, but 3 -- containers of ammo not only get identified, but also REMOVED without anyone noticing?  Someone just drives into a shipping container site (I assumed under guard and surveillance), opens the back of their U-Haul or tractor trailer, transfers the ammo to the truck after breaking into the container, then drives away without any paperwork?

Either this was a well-planned heist using detailed insider info on how to get past security, of the security for containers bing moved in NC leaves much to be desired.

Somebody on the shipping management side had to be involved to know the 3 specific containers to open.

I think they just hooked up the containers and drove off.

9 mm Hornady 115gr JHP/XTP
Rounds per pound: 38.10
Weight per 100 rounds (lbs): 2.63
1 million rnds = 26,300 lbs or 12 tons
and that's just 1million rounds

I think they just hooked up the containers and drove off.

The ATF reported the ammo was "taken from containers."  My limited education tells me that means they offloaded the ammo and left the containers.

Maybe you've seen better reporting?

The two vehicles of interest they mentioned based on surveillance video were a gray 4-door sedan and a silver SUV.

They call us domestic terrorists, harass us and seize our property, shoot our dogs, and yet they still expect our help fighting organized crime after their open border policies roll out the red carpet for the cartels and give them a huge boost of revenue.

Based on the information given, this is indeed a very strange story.

Unless the perpetrators are built like fork lifts, this story only asks more questions.

Just work'n the numbers.
That's about 6 tons per vehicle not to mention the time to load.
A 2023 SIERRA HD DENALI max payload is  6,374 lbs (about 3 tons)

1 case of a 1000 rounds is heavy for me.  I lift a case and walk 10 ft. and I'm huffing and puffing. ;)
