Got an email "related to the bankruptcy proceedings of Front Sight Management LLC, Case No. 22-11824" and wondering if anyone else knows more about what is going on.

I know roughly what has been happening but not really clear on the actual sitrep, and opinions about what do to or can be done.

Have you read the letter from Dr. Ignatius Piazza on the Front Sight website?

https://www.frontsight.com/reorganization/

He's basically saying he and the board of directors were duped into putting the property up as collateral in exchange for funding to complete all the wonderful amenities he's been promising his members forever.

It was an arrangement of dominoes that had to fall in succession for it to work.  The story Piazza tells is the developer didn't pony up the money for improvements and development as promised, which in turn failed to generate the revenue Front Sight anticipated in order to repay the loans.

My question in the original thread was, how did Front Sight get into that situation at all?  Do they not know any lawyers who could review the agreements for them?  Did the promise of funding to complete the site blind them from recognizing what a risk they were taking?  Were there no contingency clauses in the agreement, such as "Our ability to repay the loan is contingent on the developer making full funding available" or something similar?

If they are the victims of shady developers trying to steal their property after all the improvements they made, I question their business acumen and whether due diligence was performed to protect the business from these risks.

I thought of Front Sight like a time share or vacation property "opportunity."  You are being told how wonderful the place will be AFTER all the amenities are built.  But, it takes a lot of buyers/dues-payers to fund that.  In the meantime, you have a deed to a piece of undeveloped property you can camp on or an apartment overlooking a construction area where the pool, miniature golf and tennis courts are planned.

I signed up for the cheapest membership so I could take the 5-day Defensive Handgun course.  For the price, it was worth every penny and then some.

Read the comments at that link.  And remember, that's just one side of the story.  I/m sure there's another side that might not be as favorable as Front Sight's position.

Another company is looking to buy frontsight from bankruptcy.  They're going to provide a one or two year membership for minimal use of the range, with more expensive discounted plans for full use of the range and classes.

"more expensive discounted plans "

Is that not an oxymoron?

Sorry I can't seem to find the other thread discussing this.

Obviously it doesn't help that they use a common phrase "front sight" which is almost like saying "ammo" as your company name.

And there are numerous discussions about Front Sight the company which is not related to this current topic.

AND a certain Flapp Jackson also has tons of posts LOL so it's been hard locating said thread.

Anyway I guess the nutshell is WAIT AND SEE if another company is looking to buy them out.

This article discusses the bankruptcy buyout a bit better, and what front sight members would get.

https://www.pewpewtactical.com/prairiefire-to-acquire-front-sight/

Whatever way this bankruptcy goes, our memberships are basically worthless.  They either disappear or if FS stays around, we'll have to pay significant fees.  Or we get some very limited membership from Prariefire unless we pay more fees.

I started at FS when it first opened 25 years ago and attended their free Uzi class.  I bought a membership and did one or two upgrades.  Paid about $7k total.  I came out a bit ahead even with this bankruptcy after taking 10 classes, selling a bunch of memberships and certs, and hoarding holsters and accessories with my FS credits .
