"leaning"?  pffft.  Hawaii went full banana republic long time ago, and never looked back.  Probably been that way since Queen Liliuokalani.  Before my time.

My other choice would have been socialist shit hole but I decided to be nice…..🍌

It’s pretty clear that we aren’t going to win doing things the same old way. So far we are bringing pepper spray to a gun fight.

There’s 60% of ballots out there going into the trash. We need to find a Hawaiian Desantis and start working the assisted living facilities

It's more like we are lined up against the wall and taking it up the arse.

Imagine if HIFICO or Andrew didn't come to HI.  We would have lost our rifle mags, no Tasers, probably the DUI and guns would have passed, amongst many more anti 2a bills.

What are you basing that 60% number on?

Sorry, thought you meant 60% of ballots that were cast were going into the trash. My bad.

No problem. Thanks for highlighting it. The AINOKEA crowd could easily flip the state, but it’s up to us to reach them

The night of the Philly debate between Oz and Fetterman, the top trending search on Google was:

How can I change my vote?

So, early voting once again caught many voters wishing they'd waited.

Early voting advocates are banking on “measure twice cut once” advice that many people do not do.  And it ends up as “too late, too bad…”

Even some members here feel voting for change is futile.  But I don’t believe it so.  If we keep plugging at it change will happen.  We did flip some seats in the House.  It’s a beginning.

Republicans gaining a majority in the US Senate is still looking promising ---- for now.

As it stands, the Senate is at 48D/49R.  51 are needed for a majority.  50/50 gives the Dems a majority, as Kamala gets to decide any ties.

That's 48+49 = 97 seats decided.   Between the 3 remaining races, GA and NV look to be the GOP's best shot at hitting the magic number of 51, with AZ being a less likely seat to flip to "R".  If Republican candidates only win one of those three seats, we go back to a 50/50 split.

Georgia will make 98 seats decided.  A runoff election is to be Dec 6th from what I heard.  Since neither top candidate received the minimum 50% of the votes cast, the runoff is automatic.  Walker (R) has a very good chance of winning.

Nevada is going to be counting for a week or more according to reports.
That is the 99th Senate seat, and the Republican candidate is making a strong showing.
Quote
In Nevada, two days after Election Day, Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto's race to defend her seat
against the challenge from Republican Adam Laxalt is still a toss-up, and the outcome may not be known for
days. On Thursday morning, with about 84% of the results in, Laxalt was leading by almost 2 points, but the
race has tightened, and the margin separating the two is now under 16,000 votes.

Ballots are still being counted in the state's most populous county, Clark County, where 86% of the vote is in.
In 2016, Cortez Masto won the county by over 80,000 votes. Washoe County, the second largest county,
where Reno is located, has 88% of the vote in.

Clark County Registrar of Voters Joe Gloria told reporters in Las Vegas Wednesday that he expects that the
ballots in that county may be counted by next Thursday, at the latest, and the canvass of the vote would take
place next Friday.

Cortez Masto, 58, is considered to be the most vulnerable Democratic senator fighting for reelection, and if
Laxalt, a former state attorney general, defeats her, it will be a crucial pickup for Republicans looking to flip
the seat and gain control of the upper chamber. Three Senate races remain to be decided. In addition to Nevada,
Arizona's Senate race is yet to be called, and Georgia's Senate race is going to a runoff in early December.

Arizona is the final state to complete the 100 seats in the Senate.
Dem Mark Kelly, who was elected in a special election after the death of John McCain, is leading with 76% of the votes counted.
Quote
Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, a Democrat, is leading his Trump-backed GOP challenger Blake Masters in the
race for the state's Senate seat, and CBS News characterizes the race as leaning Democratic.

As of Thursday morning, Kelly's lead had increased by a few thousand since Wednesday. He's currently
leading Masters by about 95,000 votes, or 5 percentage points, over Masters, with 76% of the results in.

Colorado House, district 3, Lauren Boebert (R) just pulled ahead with the latest tally.  Yesterday's count, she had been trailing by sixty-something votes, 49.99% vs 50.01%.  now leading 50.18% vs 49.82%.  98.25% of the vote counted.

"Congresswoman Boebert was the proud owner of Shooter's Grill, a Second Amendment and Western-themed restaurant in Rifle, Colorado where staff open-carried."

https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2022/11/11/election-day-new-tool-helped-speed-up-hawaiis-delivery-voting-results-rural-areas/

New technology used on Election Day helped deliver voting results from more remote areas within minutes.

The state Elections Office launched the Remote Rally system for the first time Tuesday and said it worked.

The technology allowed results to transmit “directly to the county center,” said Chief Elections Officer Scott Nago.

In previous elections, after the polls closed, ballots from Molokai and Lanai had to be flown to Maui to be processed. And on Hawaii Island, the ballots had to be driven from Kona to Hilo, where the service center is located.

And somehow my vote in Honolulu took an extra two days to clear, and 16000 people showed up to poll centers on Election Day because they don’t trust early counts or mail ins.

Also extremely low voter turnout. What’s the benefit of all these fancy computers again?

LOL!!

In 1992, I was supporting Operation Tandem Thrust in Guam.  I was using FTP to send PowerPoint Presentations and other digital files from the shore site to the Blue Ridge Command Ship.  It took 4 minutes from me getting the files until the intended recipient confirmed they had the files.  Before this, the files were being flown by chopper to the ship and back.  Of all the impressive and innovative things we did behind the scenes to make the exercise a success, THIS was what impressed the people in charge.

As I said, that was 3 decades ago.  Are these people telling us it took over 30 years for this "new technology" to be used for something as routine and frequent as transmitting vote tallies?

OMFG!  If sending a file via the Internet is "new technology", I can't wait to see their reaction when they find out about email!   :geekdanc:

looks like Laxalt, R, Senate, NV, is in jeopardy, being threatened by Cortez Masto, D.  48.50% vs 48.41%, 94.69% counted.  468,437 votes vs 467,575.   862 votes difference.

as the world slowly turns.
