Looks like Fetterman turned out exactly as Republicans warned voters -- he's not medically fit to hold a seat in the US Senate.

Not sure who's more incompetent -- the unfortunate stroke victim turned Senator, or the brain-dead voters who elected him.

I don't think he'd have been elected had his debate with Dr Oz aired prior to early and mail-in votes being cast.  Lots of people must have regretted their decision after the debate, as Google reported "How do I change my vote" was the top trending search on debate night.

Just one more example of how the expansion of state's voting calendar benefits the Democrats more than Republicans.

Senator John Fetterman Checked Into
Hospital For 'Clinical Depression'

Quote
Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania checked himself into the hospital
"to receive treatment for clinical depression."

"Last night, Senator John Fetterman checked himself into Walter Reed National
Military Medical Center to receive treatment for clinical depression. While John
has experienced depression off and on throughout his life, it only became
severe in recent weeks," Fetterman's Chief of Staff Adam Jentleson said in a
statement.

"On Monday, John was evaluated by Dr. Brian P. Monahan, the Attending
Physician of the United States Congress. Yesterday, Dr. Monahan recommended
inpatient care at Walter Reed. John agreed, and he is receiving treatment on a
voluntary basis," Jentleson explained.

Last week, the 53-year-old Fetterman, who suffered a stroke in May 2022 while
on the campaign trail, was hospitalized after "feeling lightheaded" during a
Senate Democratic retreat. He spent three days in the hospital and was released
after doctors determined that he did not suffer another stroke.

Is this possible, now they can replace him without an election with anyone they choose, as long as it's the same party?

PA voting at it's finest. Like Flapp said, this was all know b4 the election. Guy had to read replies from a screen because he could not think for himself due to his brain injury. What could go wrong...

I'm sure.
Twenty two years of dealing with Hawaii Democrats
I know who is the problem..
We have a state full of them.
What is really scary is some are cops
and some of us normal people think they are OK.
and trustworthy.
NOT!

The state can require a special election (some states require a certain number of days remaining in the term prior to the next general election), or the governor can appoint a replacement.

However the vacancy gets filled, it's only temporary until another election is held for that seat.

Specifically, Pennsylvania follows the same process as 36 other states in that the governor does indeed appoint a temporary replacement:

Quote
In 37 states (listed below), U.S. Senate vacancies are temporarily filled by
gubernatorial appointment. The appointee serves until the next statewide
general election is held; the winner in that election serves out the remainder
of the term.

Since the next general election would be in 2024, any replacement this year would serve for the year 2024 plus the number of months remaining in 2023 at the time they are appointed.

Hawaii is one of 6 states that is bound by law to choose a replacement from the same party as the prior Senator.  PA is not one of those, so theoretically, the Governor could appoint a Republican or any other person regardless of party affiliation.

The PA Governor is a Democrat, so it's unlikely to be anything other than a Dim in that seat.
