Storing Firearms: Sensitive Places

Under the assumption that the sensitive places bill passes in any capacity there’s going to be times where you need to store your firearm somewhere. Last I remember a loaded firearm in a vehicle means that the vehicle subject to forfeiture to the police.

Testimony is a good time to let lawmakers aware of this.

They don't care.
We are in Chinese(CCP) mode these days.
Start thinking like a war is happening
and they have all the guns.
We sure don't.

The current statute already addresses this.

Quote
[§134-25]  Place to keep pistol or revolver; penalty.
(a)  Except as provided in sections 134-5 and 134-9, ...
https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol03_Ch0121-0200D/HRS0134/HRS_0134-0025.htm

Section 134-9 is the Concealed Carry License provision.
Quote
§134-9  Licenses to carry.
https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol03_Ch0121-0200D/HRS0134/HRS_0134-0009.htm

So, the Places to Keep for Pistols and Revolvers doesn't apply to Concealed Carry License holders.

You will only have to worry about the sensitive places and federal laws that restrict where you can carry.

That's my read on it anyway.

the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

134-9 only makes an exception for a handgun carried on person.  So storing a gun in the car would still be prohibited.

Doesn't make sense, but that's how it is.  Could be ripe for a lawsuit since it basically prevents you from carrying all day if you have to visit a sensitive places.

Doesn't make sense, but that's how it is.

Nothing makes sense with the stupid laws and regulations concerning CCW drafted by no sense politicians. But like you said, that's how it is.

Anyway, I old so Ainokea anymo.

The law is rife with inconsistencies, since CCW is now the New Frontier.

All the details are going to have to be hashed out.

i do know the courts have ruled that an employer can't stop those who commute with a firearm from leaving it locked up in their parking lot.  Doing so disarms the owner when going to and from work.

I imagine there are other precedences that are similar.  So, If a Cop "somehow" finds your gun unattended in your car, and the "sensitive place" doesn't offer secure storage for firearms upon entering, it could be a very good test case if the state prosecutes.
