Until now, I never had the need for a hard rifle case, but I will be shipping my rifle to Las Vegas for a new stock fitting.

Anschutz BR50 rifle, no scope.

What's a good rifle case besides Pelican?

What's everyone using?

Cardboard box and a lot of bubble wrap.

If shipping via domestic carrier (UPS, etc), either the cardboard and bubble wrap suggested, or you should use the lightest plastic case that fits the rifle.  Weight adds to the cost to ship.

My friend borrowed my Plano rifle case to ship his rifle stock to TX.  Added extra padding to protect it, and the case was more ridged than cardboard alone.  Placed that inside a cardboard shipping box, maybe a little more packing material, and it survived the trip fine.

Make sure you take the insurance, and have detailed "before" pictures in case it's damaged in transit.

I was looking at the pelican or Eylar.  I’m thinking about sending my rifle to the Lapua testing center.  Just a little reluctant because of possible damage.  I’m leaning on something super rigid for piece of mind.

I bought a Plano a few years back and it's made several 4,000 mile trips. and is used regularly.

4 locking latches + 4 holes for padlocks, PRV, rubber gasket seal pluck to fit foam, end handle side handle and the 52" model has wheels.
Can fit several long arms and pistols simultaneously.

Thanks for your recommendations.   
I've been looking at the Pelican V730 Vault Tactical Rifle Case as probably my choice.
I'm leaning towards this one, as I've been told that I should disassemble the stock from the action/barrel and ship it that way.

Pelican and Eylar looks good when I saw them on Amazon.
Haven't heard much on Eylar, but the Eylar cases look good.

I use Pelican, the original and Vault for rifles for travel.  For shipping to gunsmith, I have done the wrap and carboard box. 

OP - I still have two large cardboard boxes with foam that two of my bolt action rifles were shipped in.  With a little bit of packing paper, I think it would be very secure for shipping a variety of rifles.  LMK if you are interested.

No.. just stock and action. No barrel on

Decided to get the Pelican Vault V730: I think it's long and wide enought to handle 2 stocks and 1 barreled action.

I thought of cardboard boxes, but decided to get a sturdy case for peace of mine to and from Las Vegas.

Also, I need this case (and maybe 1 more) because going to the Lapua Testing Center in Arizona is on my trip list.

I was looking at the pelican or Eylar.

I have both.  Used the Eylar 48 Double rifle case last time to Lanai, and the case itself was solid.  Just as good as the Pelican I usually use.  The downside is the pick and pluck foam.  It breaks apart easily.  Another dude with us had the same case, but switched the foam out with a more rigid cut-out type and that made it exactly like the pelican.  Said it cost about $40 for the replacement foam on Amazon.  They have different thicknesses available to match your case.  Had to do some fitment but it was solid.  That’s the way to go if you ask me for a fraction of the price…

HGS typically has a good amount in stock. DCT had Vault rifle case in stock as well.

I got the 1745 Air with a $62 discount and free shipping from Pelican Company.

V730 Vault  Interior: 44.0 × 16.0 × 6.3"

1745 Air     Interior:  44.0 × 16.8 × 7.9"

While they are similar in size, the tie-breaker was the slight advantage in the width and depth.

With 7.9" in depth, the description says I can double-layer and put 1 stock in between the foam.
My immediate need is to ship 2 stocks and 1 barreled action to LV.

There is a difference in price, but I need to be assured that I have done the most I can do to protect my rifles.
