Favorite New Year's Movies?
« on: December 31, 2022, 08:11:04 PM »
I already watched Trading Places this week.

Merry New Year!!

Looking for another New Year themed movie, or one that is set around New Year's, but I haven't been able to find that many.

I'm thinking The Poseidon Adventure is a good choice for tonight.

I see some include The Godfather II for the New Year's party where Michael tells Freddy he knows what he did.  Also Forrest Gump for the time Forrest spent with Lt. Dan in New York City.

I've watched Ocean's 11 many times, but never the original version with the Rat Pack.  The heist was on New Year's Eve in that movie.

Got any favorites you like to watch for New Year's?

Not quite a NY movie, but I went to watch "VIOLENT NIGHT"on Christmas Day.
I loved it.
Most of you bloodthirsty heathens would love it too.

Maverick Top gun.
New 86 inch TV. Wiring up rather loud surround system through
external power amp. knocks pictures off the walls.
BIG Cerwin Vega speakers.
Don't have any theaters here so had to make my own.
Plus I can drink beer while I watch.

So, I did watch The Poseidon Adventure last night with the star-studded cast from 1972.

It's always funny to me how people can watch the same movie over and over, and still find things they never really noticed or thought about the first few dozen times watching.

Last night, as the party guests were singing "Auld Lang Syne", Manny Rosen (Jack Albertson) held his wife's hand (Belle played by Shelley Winters) on his left.  Holding his other hand was a young, very tan brunette.  Jack and the brunette locked eyes while singing, then they locked lips!  His wife yanked him away, but I'm not sure she noticed more than him letting go of her hand.

I've probably noticed it before, but for some reason, this little scene cracked me up!

Anyway, i still like this version better than both the 2005 TV Movie remake and the 2006 movie Poseidon.

Greasy Strangler

It’s disgusting, obscene, pointless with horrible acting, awful music, and extended nude scenes of ugly people. Most folks who try to watch it can only stand a few minutes before they turn it off but for some reason I come back to it about once a year or so. That said it’s far superior to the vast majority of woke formulaic garbage that comes out of Hollywood these days.

Sounds less New Year's related  and more like a drinking game!
