No gun related, but what things do you buy now that you're older and have money.  Things you couldn't buy/afford as a kid.

Example:

My friend is an engineer at Pearl Harbor. With his first paycheck, he bought the Lego Deathstar and Ironman replica helmet (red and yellow).  I asked why and he stated the above.

My rollerblade post made me think of this.

For me, it's video game system/accessories.  Often when I was younger, I had to get the grades in order for my parents to buy me a new game or wait till xmas/birthday to get a new system.  Now I can just buy what ever I want.  The irony is I only play 1 game at a time because when changing between games, the button configuration is different and I end up tossing a grenade instead of reloading, thus killing my teammates.

And I stick to only 1 system now.  When I was younger, I had Super NES, Play Station 1, Playstation 2. So I had a special adapter so I don't have to keep unplugging each unit to the TV when I want to use it.  Recently, I bought a PS5 to play the new COD.  The last system I had was maybe 4 years old (XB1).

I've also been really into juice now.  Parents wouldn't allow me to drink juice (fear of cavities).  And it did pay off, I have zero cavities so far.  But over the years, I've been buying juice as I see them look good in the coolers at various places.  Or get lemonade at restaurants instead of water.

I can afford to buy healthier food.

The sad reality nowadays is that good and nutritious food is expensive.  This is why the majority of Americans fell into obesity because of fast food being readily available and more affordable.

When we were kids my parents bought the cheapest meats they could and we ate rice.  White rice.  Back then rice was dirt cheap and my parents can stretch meals by letting us fill up on rice.  Poor was our middle names.

Even when we first married my wife and I bought simple and cheap food.  Especially when the kids came along.

Over the years mainly due to my wife's meticulous budgeting, we are able to enjoy financial freedom today.  We were never rich and our jobs were just average but nowadays I hardly look at the receipt when grocery shopping or even filling up on gas.

To a certain extent we just buy whatever we want.  Not bragging in any way, just happy that I can do it.  Of course both of us were never materialistic and never cared to keep up with the joneses.

We are just wonderful and down to earth people.  (now I'm bragging..... ;))
