Even if you brandish or inform someone you're carrying a gun at home you will be breaking the law.  So this isn't only in public spaces.

SECTION 1.  Chapter 707, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§707-    Brandishing a firearm.  (1)  A person commits the offense of brandishing a firearm if the person:

     (a)  Indicates, by word or conduct, that the person is carrying a firearm;

     (b)  Reveals or exhibits a firearm; or

     (c)  Draws or holds a firearm;

with the intent to terrorize, or in reckless disregard of the risk of terrorizing, another person.

     (2)  Brandishing a firearm is a misdemeanor."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

This not only applies in public, but anywhere. So at home as well.  No mention of not being the initial aggressor. So bad guy could play the victim card.

The language of SB 685 leaves a wide open interpretation of brandishing that puts the law-abiding CCW holder at a huge disadvantage and will work severely against them.

The language needs to be addressed.

only 47 opposed?  a little disappointing, I think.  We're gonna get steam-rollered by Mom's Against Guns, or whatever those Karen's are called.

This 1 wasnt too important. Oppose or support each had its benefits for those pro 2a.
